Serious question. How prevalent are PED's in College Football? I actually have no idea. Maybe there are very strict protocols in place for testing? I would think this would be dictated by the conference front office with each school having their own standards.

Ubiquitous.

NCAA testing is extremely weak. What's the last time you heard of anyone getting caught?

Take peds in off-season, then certain supplements that are legal to maintain during season is my guess.

I suspect the chemistry evolved faster than the testing.

I had a buddy they played in ncaa division 2, but they used the same ncaa banned substance lists. He said every season whatever supplements he was on that the team was telling him to take would be banned. Then a "new" company with the exact same ingredients but under different names would pop up and he'd take that for a year until it was banned. I remember him coming home after freshman year and had gained like 40 lbs of muscle in one season.

I'd also believe that most are cycling in the offseason and going off them to ensure you pass the known testing date

Very prevalent. Besides kickers, punters and maybe QBs, I'd bet you have a vast majority that use or have used PEDs. You're always competing and when you have elite level athletes using them to get ahead, everybody else is even more in a place of catchup

Back in high school it was always interesting to see how often the kicker and punter were "randomly" selected for drug testing.

News flash: kickers, punters, & QB'S use PEDs.

It's common but I doubt it is 100% of the athletes.

I don't think PEDs are going to necessarily make you a better player since a lot of the sport isn't just raw strength. But absolutely the competition is going to have a number of players turning to PEDs.

Added strength and speed enhance confidence but more importantly speed recovery.

Not all PEDs are used for strength gains.

If you've ever been a serious weight lifter or into body building, this is an easy answer.

They're absolutely prevalent. What it takes to gain 10lbs of quality weight or muscle isn't as easy as what you probably think

They are prevalent. There is a reason why it is the majority of walk-ons who get drug tested "randomly."

They should be allowed, my body my choice. Amirite? Change them to shedule IV or V.

I'm not up to speed, but I think there's stuff out there now that doesn't have the same harmful effects of the anabolics of yore.

*maybe different harmful effects, but not exactly the same and not fully born out thru testing yet.

This is what 99percent of minor leauge baseball players do. The 1 percent being some American born players don't do it.

This doesn't really make sense. The testing isn't testing for a brand name. It's testing for those ingredients in your system. If some other company comes along with the same ingredients, you're still going to fail the test.

From what I heard from multiple podcasts...

As soon is a certain drug goes on the list, there's another one just like it, but a little different, hat's not on the list. As soon as that one's on the list, then there's another one, a tiny bit different, but technically not the same, that's not on the list and legal.

And so your doping team has to stay one step ahead of the tester.

Pretty much anytime a player gets injured, there's a multitude of peptides or stem cell treatment. The dam is about to break and all this is going to be normal for average consumer very soon.

Back in the day they randomly tested a few players several times during the year as a sample. Had a friend whose son was an OL at Arkansas. He got tested every time. Never missed one. They knew he was clean.

Had a few friends in the NFL, they are almost all taking some kind of PED and say the drug testing is basically an IQ test, the drug designers are years ahead of the testing.

One of my friends didn't take anything, just physically gifted. He looked like a shrimp on the field and he was a 6'3" 240 RB, natural strong so wasn't defined at all
