P4 teams play for a title.

G5 teams play for a title.

P4 - each P4 conference has a mini-tournament with top 4 schools determined by similar rules. Winner goes to CFP.

G5 - each G5 conference has top 3 schools go to the CFP2 along with 1 at-large participant to total 16.

"Major" bowls get the P4 games. "Minor" bowls get the G5 games except maybe the final and possibly the semi-finals.

Have at it my zoo compadres.

Nah. No need for more incmference games after the season. Seed four Big Ten, Four SEC, two each ACC and Big 12, best two other conference CCG winners, six next at large. Best four CCGs get byes. Two rounds before byes. Play if off.

Yeah, it seems like college football needs more divisions or something like high school football. Its crazy to me that a school like Tulsa and Alabama compete for the same national title.

Need to split div1

64 teams stay, 60+ teams go play in a new division.

Rankings don't include teams from other division etc... no one should care that teams like Indiana, smu, Boise state etc have a great w/l record when they beat scrubs teams all year long.

The game is headed to something like this, but it won't be P4 and G5. It will be P2 and everyone else. Powers that be in the SEC and B1G won't care to have everyone else diluting the product after the remaining major programs are gobbled up by those two (and there are very few left).

The days of programs like SMU and Boise getting a seat at the table are getting short.

If the B1G wants to join that superconference, then they need to get better teams than only having Oregon, OSU, and occasionally PSU and Michigan.

The bottom of the B1G is very, very weak. The B12 has more parity.

Agreed, they could lose a lot of bloat... especially if we are just talking football.

Been thinking about what (if any) teams should get from the SEC football? Maybe State? Vandy? Tucky? Maybe those perennial cellar dwellers could represent the SEC in the lower division.

just get rid of the auto-bids and auto-byes

This is not necessary. Just go to 24 or 32 teams kill the bowls and call it a day. We are so close.

Top 4 in the SEC and B1G in a 8 team playoff. It's not that hard. Let the others play in their own playoffs for a championship.

Yep. Rankings need to be done by a computer. There are not four conferences in college football. At most, there are 2 1/2. Continually winning against weak competition should not be rewarded. Only D1 games should count, and let the computer pick the top 8 or 16 teams.

Based on how the ACC played, I'd say just send the B1G champs to play the SEC champs. That's what it comes down to anyway

It is much easier. Top 16 teams are selected and seeded. No
Byes. Conference champs get automatic bids but not automatic seeding. Just the 5 we have now. Conferences must play 9 or even 10 conference games to even out the strength of schedule. Those who play fewer than 9 lose their automatic bid. Bama, Miss S Car and Miami would have made these games a lot better.
