They will. Just need to wait for the ACC to implode first. I think they are going to shed some deadweight with the power players from that conference.

The Big 10 likes how it is. They were the ones keeping SEC teams out. Can't lose to the SEC if you don't play them.

Don't know, 'cause SMU looks like shiite. And should be criticized for sucking.

The only reason the SMU game was not good is because the committee went with DEI and not best team. SMU is clearly the inferior team of this playoff. I think the committee went with SMU over a deserving SEC for deliversity and to create the openness to smaller teams.

This is just the first round and there will be some mismatches in the first round on occasion. The rest of the games should be pretty good, IMHO.

Because two teams that everyone was convinced didn't belong have proven just that on the field.

Playoffs should be good football, not garbage games that are snoozefests. These teams had no shot to compete and it's a waste of time to include them in a playoff.

Have you watched the other playoff games and title games? Most of them have garbage games.

Lots of hate for the bowl games, but most of them are fun and interesting games to watch.

Alabama would, at the very least, have given them a good game.

Yep. People wanted an expanded playoff, to try to recreate the thrills of FCS I suppose, and they got it. And they're going to get more playoff games in the future.

But they're not going to get more good games. That's the catch.

All relative. They're going to get a lot better games than they would typically get out of college football at this time of year.

Who really has a chance to win the NCAA basketball tournament? Don't we enjoy those 5 vs 12 first round games just as much even though neither team is probably going to win the championship? It's a matter of perspective

Except that's not what a playoff guarantees. All the higher seeded teams played on home fields and have won / are likely to win. Clemson just isn't as good of a team and the seeding held so far.

I certainly would prefer four SEC and Big Ten seeds since those conferences won't get selected under the fewer losses with no meaningful difficulty of schedule standard/metric. But higher seeded teams likely will win home games…

To be fair, 25 degree weather is an immeasurable advantage for a home northern team playing a team from the south, though Tennessee is much less south than someone like us.

It would be like Ohio State playing at Kyle or at the swamp in mid July during a drought. They would not perform the same way they normally do.

But Tennessee was also very lucky to be here. They weren't very impressive aside from one game. Their offense sucks. This was a bad matchup for them regardless of the weather.

SMu could not win a single game in the SEC.
