We also have a first year coach that inherited a culture dumpster fire. Texas beat us and was better. But most of that was coaching over time. Despite what TexAgs seems to think, there is no magic button "really good coaches" have. All of them build programs.

Compare us in two years. That'll be valid and a way to assess Elko and his staff.

I hope the argument here isn't, "We deserve to be in the playoffs," but rather, "The 4-team format was more than fine." Hell, we barely even had a competitive fourth team in the history of that format.

This won't be a popular take, but the BCS got it right 99% of the time.

We were not a playoff team. But neither was SMU or Indiana. Absolute jokes and some of us called it mid year how overrated they were. Playing cream puffs all year and winning doesn't make you good.

No one is suggesting we deserved to be in the playoff. Merely responding to the despondent OP that posted hyperbole. And I agree that Az St is beatable too.

I'm fine with the 12 team playoff but they have to limit the number of teams from ACC and BiG 12 to the Champion only. The talent disparity is to big to allow more than one from those conferences. Strength of schedule and conference affiliation should matter more.

Clemson beat smu on a last second field goal.

Both smu and Clemson have/are playing like **** and A&M looked better against tu than Clemson has (thus far).

Hard disagree. The BCS got it right about it 2/3 of the time from 98-2013. I do agree that the 4 team playoff was generally correct.

Fire dudes every 2-3 years and yep.

Remember with two minutes to go in the game against Notre Dame the score was tied 13 to 13. We played a horrible game and we're still right there at the end.
