I don't think they'd be down 28 zip at the half. CFB playoff staff blew this one BIG TIME.

Neither would S Carolina or Ole Miss.

Don't lose to .500 teams in Norman at the EOS.

They don't deserve to be on this stage. Their SOS was not nearly as demanding as Bama or USCe.

The committee that did this is a joke.

The game, IMO, is much closer than the score.

If Jennings runs for the 1st instead of the incomplete pass for a TD, SMU likely ends up 7-0 and SMU is full control of the game.

As is, Jennings keeps trying to make up for that and has throw two pick-6s.

Penn State has not shown the ability to drive the ball and if either Pick-6 ends up with a tackle... Penn St is likely up only 13-0.

Having said that, I think SMU likely gets worn down either way and Penn St wins in a close one.

Nana should have won if they wanted in. SMU had a good year. The twelve team playoff is a win.

But, but I saw a dozen white men in their 70's watching games together in recliners.

I know they got the teams right.

The last 2 teams in were going to be a problem
They got in because they won 11 games
All the teams that got left out won 9 games

Really easy for idiots to say "they shoulda won"... but it's a hell of a lot easier to win when you're play **** teams week in and out.

Vandy and OU are 9+ win teams with smu's schedule ffs.

These first two matchups are snoozefest and not fun to watch, not sure why you idiots are defending this garbage. It's **** for fans, and will just make football worse as teams race to fill their ooc with fcs guaranteed Ws.

SMU played their way in. Bama got destroyed by a bad OU team. Not much to debate about who deserved to be in.

To be fair, no team in the entire SEC would be down 28-0 at the half.

Jennings, single handedly gave the game away in the first half.......full football QB panic mode in the first 30 minutes.

21 of Penn State's 38 points were directly attributed to his buffoonery.

SMU's defense did the best they could.

This was largely true. As I said on another thread, Penn State changed their coverages and sent the house. Jennings couldn't adapt and was totally lost. That accounted for the last few minutes of the second quarter and the rest of the game.

SMU likely wasn't going to win, but NO SEC team would have won this game (especially AT PSU) throwing two pick-6s. Anyone thinking otherwise is being stupid. So, the "SMU didn't belong..." argument boils down to 2, really 3, first half turnovers that led directly to the opponent's TDs. Get back to me when you can prove that a) no left out SEC team COULD have done that and b) none of those teams would have lost or at least played a closer game HAD they done that.

How many games this season did SMU throw 2 pick-6s in the first half? Dude threw it right to the defender each time.

Bama would have been a threat to win today. SMU was not.

If you want to give teams from every conference a shot, regardless of SOS, then fine. Point proven. If you want to field the 12 best teams, you didn't do it.

That would DEPEND on which Bama team showed up? The 1 that looked great against GA or the 1 that looked like CRAP against OU.

I think the issue was the early rankings and seedings. That didnt give the committee much wiggle room.

Ditto the Kiffin / ol Miss argument too. 3 losses against ranked opponents is 1 thing. 3 losses like Bama's??,?

There is a really good way to find out who is better between teams in different leagues who almost never play one another. Put them in a playoff and let the best team win. Who knew such a thing was possible?

Just make it an SEC v B1G + ND event and be done with it.

There is everything to debate when you look at schedules and SOS.

How obtuse can you be?

Yep.

They just sorted teams by losses for the most part like they love to do with strength of schedule as an afterthought like always. The one thing I will say is that as terrible as some of these picks are with 12 picks they managed to get the 7 or 8 most deserving teams all in the field.

This has been my gripe all year. It is supposed to be RANKINGS, but they turned it into a giant bowl of STANDINGS. The committee put way too much emphasis on W/L records. If they watch the games, you can tell who is good and who is skating by on the easy schedule

It is good that these schools are getting their butts kicked. This will make SOS more important in the years to come
