I don't think they'd be down 28 zip at the half. CFB playoff staff blew this one BIG TIME.
Even so...Tide wouldn't be down 28 zip. SMU = flash in a panReno Hightower said:

Nana should have won if they wanted in. SMU had a good year. The twelve team playoff is a win.

Jennings, single handedly gave the game away in the first half.......full football QB panic mode in the first 30 minutes.DallasAg 94 said:
The game, IMO, is much closer than the score.
If Jennings runs for the 1st instead of the incomplete pass for a TD, SMU likely ends up 7-0 and SMU is full control of the game.
As is, Jennings keeps trying to make up for that and has throw two pick-6s.
Penn State has not shown the ability to drive the ball and if either Pick-6 ends up with a tackle... Penn St is likely up only 13-0.
Having said that, I think SMU likely gets worn down either way and Penn St wins in a close one.

SMU played their way in. Bama got destroyed by a bad OU team. Not much to debate about who deserved to be in.

Bama would have been a threat to win today. SMU was not.
If you want to give teams from every conference a shot, regardless of SOS, then fine. Point proven. If you want to field the 12 best teams, you didn't do it.
Lots of talk on this forum stating how bad the Big10 an ND were through this season.Reno Hightower said:
Just make it an SEC v B1G + ND event and be done with it.
This has been my gripe all year. It is supposed to be RANKINGS, but they turned it into a giant bowl of STANDINGS. The committee put way too much emphasis on W/L records. If they watch the games, you can tell who is good and who is skating by on the easy scheduleDad said:dabo man said:

Yep.
They just sorted teams by losses for the most part like they love to do with strength of schedule as an afterthought like always. The one thing I will say is that as terrible as some of these picks are with 12 picks they managed to get the 7 or 8 most deserving teams all in the field.
