They also lost to 6-6 Vandy. Don't give a rats ass what their SoS was, that is two bad losses that don't warrant making the playoffs.
Sure, IU didn't beat anyone with a pulse. But like I said earlier, at least they beat the crap out of the scrubs they played to give the illusion they were good or at least make it hard to exclude them.
Bama losing to two meh teams is why they didn't get in.

Those same scrubs that bama lost to could have beaten this team had they played that kind of lights out performance.

The talent level between the two schedules is ridiculous.

And would you take Indiana, smu or Boise state over bama in a head to head game?

Bamas SOS is top 5-10.

IUs SOS is top 50 or worse.

It matters.

Oh, I have no doubt Bama would beat IU and SMU.

All I'm saying is that IU made it hard for the committee because they did beat the crap out of the scrubs they played and Bama and Ole Miss blew it by losing games that they shouldn't have.

The SMU decision by the committee is a little more confusing because they had a bad loss early and then lost to a Clemson team that lost to every team they played with a pulse. But I guess Clemson still has some cachet from their success a few years back.

Yep. Can't leave out a 1 loss Indiana for 3 loss Bama just for SOS sake. A 10-2 Bama probably has a case. An 11-1 Bama would've got in over Indiana easily.

If we want three loss teams in, move it to 24 teams. If you don't like other conferences, quit watching football after the SEC title game.

The CFP needs these games to give the committee more discretion on selecting/seeding teams based on sos. Of course, more discretion, more controversy. Or, expand to 24 teams. I really think a team like IU deserves a playoff spot, and an expanded field would allow them their chance.

Notre Dame dominated Indiana from start to finish to become e the first college football program to earn a College Football Playoff victory on its home field. I noticed a few other trends.

1. Notre Dame has won 11 consecutive games, tied for 2nd active longest streak in the FBS.

2. Notre Dame's 12 wins ties team record.

3. Indiana has dropped to 0-47 in road/neutral games against AP Top 5 teams.

If you walked away from tonight not realizing that Indiana took a spot away from better teams then you need a reality check.

Indiana controls their SOS, and they should have been dinged for playing a **** schedule.

That's how its worked before in the cfp... that why teams started scheduling more premier matchups ooc. It's not our fault they played a **** sos and skated through the season.

Rewarding this bull**** will lead to teams playing nothing but fcs teams ooc to not risk a loss... it's stupid and it's bad for the sport and the fans.

Getting housed by a 6-6 ou team does not warrant a playoff berth regardless of your SoS.

Irrelevant. You are ignoring SOS.

The Big10 is massively overrated. It's a joke.

You can't have it both ways: if SOS matters then losses to inferior teams matter as well. We also beat the two best teams (other than UGa and SoCar) that Bama did. Other than UGa, Bama's wins (LSU/Mizzou) weren't THAT impressive, especially given their dumps against OU and Vandy. And they barely got by SoCar.

Are you saying that had IU beaten Ohio State but lost to Michigan, that would have changed things? That would make the SOS people feel better but it wouldn't have changed what happened tonight -- at least, not likely.

As far as the Big 10 begin overrated, I'd hold up in making that assertion right now. I think Ohio State beats Tenn, and either them or Oregon will be favored to win the semi.

The only thing I like I about ND in this game is Riley Leonard

That dude is a baller and it's cool to see him succeed after goi down in injury against ND at Duke when he nearly upset them

He had to overcome the odds with his new team like Durant to GS, but you can't help but be happy for his success in the better situation. He plays QB like each game will be his last.

This selection committee is like a collection of DC bureaucrats . It doesn't matter if it's 2, 4, 8 or 12 team playoff never underestimate the committee's ability to screw it up.
