Plenty of below average coaches have won titles. Gene Chizik, Larry Coker, Ed Orgeron, etc. I would say none of those guys were even average.

A football coach is usually only as good as the staff and players he surrounds himself with. I mean, that's no joke 90% of the equation for a head coach.
