Court rules in favor of him getting another year of eligibility. Juco year does not count.

Too bad this did not happen sooner. Might still have Asch pitching for us.

There's no doubt in my mind that Aschenbeck would have gotten another year if he were attending the righ(t u)niversity

I'm not surprised. Said it at the time he filed that the NCAA would probably lose since jucos are a completely separate market. Honestly, it might be best for athletes to go that route, get more practice and time to bulk up, then hit DI ball.

LOL all you want. It's going to happen. The schools all want it and Congress loves to meddle in everything.

Its the only way to get control of the mess NIL with transfer portal has created.

Not that we didn't know it already, but this is just further evidence that college football has officially become the minor league system for the NFL. I'm waiting for the courts to negate the rule about not being able to play at the college level if you've gone through the draft. Or heck, even letting NFL players with remaining eligibility go back to college....because God forbid they get limited on making money from NIL.

Free market ruins sports. There are several sports now that are unwatchable.
Constant heavy movement by players reduces any type of chemistry in some sports and you just get a lot of self ball. Terrible to watch.

I want to watch a teamwork and develop together and play outstanding game. Not one or two guys doing wonderful things. That's what track and field is for. Just my personal opinion.

I also think this delays a kids entry into adulthood. Kids are already reclassing for basketball to increase their opportunity. Then they go to prep school. Now they can go two years to Juko before they even begin college. That means eight years for a solid mediocre player, who likely won't go anywhere with it and also will smother younger kids opportunities because he won't get the heck out of school

High school recruiting in basketball just got crushed with this ruling

The Covid error was bad enough. Now we're trying to make it permanent.

Smart kid. Most likely not going to play in the NFL so gained another year of eligibility to earn that NIL money. Otherwise, he'll be working a 9-to-5 job next year.

Sorry, dude. Not an option at this point with the amount of money moving around. I am the last person who wants government intervention in anything, but this is one of the few instances where congress absolutely needs to step in and create uniformity.

You have 130+ academic institutions across the country, many with hundred million dollar athletic departments, located in different states with different laws. They're spending millions of dollars to recruit players from all over the country. Various groups of those institutions are members of different billion dollar athletic conferences, each with different rules and governing bylaws. Then you have multinational media companies contracting with the various institutions and conferences and spreading billions of dollars around to televise the games nationally and internationally. And in the middle of it all you have massive donors and private "collectives" all trying to leverage their own state laws to get a leg up on everybody else and steal each other's players with zero accountability or transparency. And by the way, the only entity that has historically provided uniformity and stability (the NCAA) has been completely gutted by the courts, and rightfully so. But something needs to take its place as a governing body.

If there was ever something that the commerce clause of the Constitution was designed to give Congress the power to regulate, it is the situation we have in college athletics right now, and specifically football. We need federal legislation on all of this, and I say that as someone who generally hates the federal government.

Time for A&M to pump some money into several Juco's to make them a feeder school for us. Who wouldn't want to have a team of 22-24 year olds competing against 19-20 year olds?

Looks like BYU's advantage was just nullified.

Colleges used to have feeder programs back in the old Prop 48 Days. Blinn, Coffeyville, San Jac for Basketball, etc
If this is the case , bring it back.
