In light of recent events, where the best quarterback and second best receiver for Mississippi state immediately transferred out are they doomed to be the Montral Expos of the SEC?

Whether their best players aren't highly recruited out of high school, but when they show some talent, they immediately get poached by schools with more NIL money?

Arkansas has been gutted at least as bad as Miss State, IMO...

Jerruh should just sell the Cowboys and use that $10billion to fund NIL

I would say it is closer to the New York Yankees - Kanas City A's in the late 50's early 609's. The Yankees used KC as a AAA team. Sending guys there to develop in trades and trading for them back.

It's not the portal but we demolished Mizzou's recruiting class right at the finish line.

All on our schedule in 2025. Too bad indeed.

The sudden death of Mike Leach on 12/12/2022 has sent Mississippi State on a spiral.
1. Zach Arnett was the interim coach, who guided Mississippi State to a 19-10 win over Illinois in the 2023 ReliaQuest Bowl. Then, Arnett went 4-6 (1-6 SEC) before he was fired after 10 games. It's crazy how Jimbo Fisher and Zach Arnett both got fired within 36 hours of our 51-10 home win over Mississippi State on 11/11/2023.

2. Jeff Lebby went 2-10 (0-8 SEC) in his first season, including an embarrassing 41-17 home loss to Toledo on 9/14. That mirror's Chad Morris' 2-10 record in his first season in Arkansas in 2018 that included an embarrassing 44-17 home loss to North Texas.

3. Mississippi State has lost 12 consecutive SEC games, all of them by 10+ points each, and 15 of 16 SEC games in the last 2 years. Their only SEC win in that span is a 7-3 road win at Arkansas on 10/21/2023.

This is why the consolidation of the B1G and SEC will eventually happen. Even the lower ends of our own conferences can't compete. The rest of CFB damn sure can't keep up

Don't look too closely, but we've lost quite a few too.

In numbers, sure, but big indicators of how impactful those guys might have been is how long they are in the portal and where they end up going.

I count 2, maybe 3 guys, that had what could be considered an important role on our team for 2025. That's Shanahan and Dewberry at backup guards and you might could say Weigman, but he was never going to stay after the reins were handed over the Reed full time. He needed a reset.

My theory is that one or both of Dewberry and Shanahan are waiting on the Reed-Adams domino to fall. If he ends up declaring, we might see one or both come back.
