thats not how the tax laws of any state work. which you seem to concede.

california may do lots of things in the future. who knows with those loons.

but the fact remains that NIL is not taxed under California law simply because a person plays a game there

Not yet, but my point is that being as aggressive as they are (and loony) and as broke, it would not surprise me if they go after it at some point.

Most, if not all, states tax monies earned within their state even for nonresidents. At least every state return I've done has been that way, probably 9 or 10 different states. Work for two days, two weeks, two months, and all earned while within their borders is taxable income in that state.
