Always interesting these days to see what "new" team will be playing in the bowl games.

Nothing unusual about a high NFL draft prospect to opt out of a meaningless bowl game. I wonder if Henderson wishes he hadn't a played against Ok St.

The new character test for all these NFL teams should be whether these big draft picks have the balls to play in their bowl games… or if they are going to walk off the field in the third quarter because it's raining and they don't want to play anymore…

They would be playing if their agents and NFL scouts wanted them to. Obviously, they're advising the other way.

Some of you don't even care about the 2nd/3rd tier bowl games so why care if a player opts out or not?

If we're not in the playoffs, I would MUCH rather see players that may contribute in the future.

If this upsets you, you weren't paying attention. It's the way it is now. He transferred here to maximize his profits and Elko knew this was the potential risk. Once we were eliminated from the tournament he backed off to play it safe

Wish we had played sylla & smith more during the season when scourton decided effort wasn't important

It looked like he opted out of the last 3 or 4 games as well.

May not be that easy if your back up options a liability too. Better option is to negotiate some nil deal where you reduce paying if you reduce playing

And this is why the non-CFP bowls are trash. Best players opting out.

If the last part of the season is any indication, he will get the same number of sacks as an opt out as he would have gotten if he had played the bowl game.

Henderson had everything to gain and little to lose playing in bowl game last year considering his limited playing time and potential to compete with CW this season for the starting position.

It's not like he was in any position to leave for the pros. And the risk he took to play would have greatly benefited him in both an argument to be the starter at A&M or elsewhere this season and increased his NIL potential - had he not gotten injured and given Marcel Reed a game to show off his abilities.

Your logic is flawed - we were not out of the "tournament" until the end of the t.u. game and Scourton (& Turner) turned into ghosts starting the USCe game.

The disappearance of Scourton (& Turner) in those last games were more a function of poor game planning by Bateman and a huge amount of holding "no calls" against the O-lineman they faced off with.

Was totally a missing after the LSU game.

It's the players that changed, not the bowls. They never were anything more than fun exhibition games at the end of the season.

Lame. Say what you want about Coach Prime but he has his whole team playing in the Alamo Bowl because they "don't tap out"

Doesn't surprise me one bit. Seems like he checked out with five or six games left. Played really well until the little injury. That's when he realized he could get hurt bad and not get paid. All of this comes down to getting paid. Period

most of these guys will never be heard from again on the field. but good luck to them

He transferred to see if he could do it in the SEC. I would say that against the better teams he was MIA. Inferior OL's he did well. I don't see the high draft grade. Can't blame the kid for taking care of himself to cash in on his payday. Merely stating what others have said on the thread, in the big games, when it mattered, he disappeared for long stretches.

They're not trash. They've been this way for forever. Portal and NIL is just exposing the reality to more people. It's up to you to not care so much about them and just enjoy them for what they are.
