Listening to Elko's interviews post-signing day, it sounds like finding and developing NFL talent is his main objective.

What else is he supposed to say? He can't say we got all the 5 stars so we just need to go win. Literally the only other option is to develop talent.

There is no such thing as recruiting as we knew it

It's who pays and where they can go to have fun spending it

These are Simi Professional athletes now

You mean compared to the old system that was clean as the driven snow?

Sign a top 10 class every year and you'll have the talent to compete no matter what.

People who whine are spoiled by Jimbo's "success"

Sign a top 10 class
Get what you need in the portal
Coach your arse off

That's the recipe for sustained winning & competition

Grow and develop your "talent" into legit NFL prospects.
We've done a piss poor job in that area.
Ahhh we might've not grown our players into TOP DRAFT talents but our guys have done pretty solid when it comes to once they are in the league recently.

Since 2019 I would say these guys have had decent to good careers so far:

Erik McCoy - Starting Center for Saints. Got a nice 2nd contract.
Trayveon Williams - Somehow still bopping around on teams
Donovan Wilson - Starting Safety on Cowboys.
Madubuike - Starting DE on Ravens and signed a massive deal
Branden Mann - Starting Punter for Jets
Bobby Brown III - Starting DT for Rams.
Dan Moore - Starting Tackle for Steelers
Kenyon Green - Starting Guard for Texans
Micheal Clemons - Starting DE for Jets
De'Von Achane - Starting RB for Dolphins
Antonio Johnson - Starting Safety for Jags
Jaylon Jones - Starting CB for Colts
Edgerrin Cooper - Starting LB for Packers

I mean ya we could've done better. I've said it a million times A&M (And players to the extent) over the last few years have not prepared them physically to perform well at the Combine nor at Pro-Days. Us losing a ton of transfers doesn't help but in todays CFB it'll be hard to really sit down and say that each team were solely responsible for growing and developing their respected players

The emphasis that has continued to stand out to me with our targets is that speed/athleticism is clearly a priority. Lots of track athletes mixed with powerlifters.

Myles, Beal-Goines, Kelshaun Johnson, Deyjhon Pettaway, and Adonyss Currie all run sub-11 40s.

Rashad Johnson, Kiotti Armstrong, Marco Jones, Noah Mikhail all fit the rangy frame that teams are looking to build around.

Sanders, Rink, and Sims on the DL are all very strong with excellent production profiles in high school. The latter 2 are good in the field events.

Pretty much the whole OL are multisport guys with my favorite being Lamont Rogers playing goalkeeper for his school's soccer team at 6'6" 300+.
Is Track and Field our new night of champions? You all really do buy into all the coach speak.
if you don't think overall team speed is a current problem, you're not watching.

That's great. Truly glad for those guys.
Now compare that to the teams that are in perennial contention for championships. Their lists will likely be 2x, maybe even 3x as long.
