it's because against the two teams with a defensive pulse georgia and south carolina clemson was held to a total of 17 points in two combined games. the acc was incredibly weak, the conference had no right to two bids.

tu hasn't struggled with teams that they are more talented than. If fact they've mostly mauled them.

We were kind of an exception (although there was some mauling), but we've got first round guys on the DL.

SMU and Pittsburgh both should've given Clemson two more losses, but here they are.

Multiple teams?

They lost to Georgia and South Carolina. Those two have equal or more talent. Georgia was at full strength. And South Carolina playing their best ball all year. Might be the top two team in the SEC.

Louisville would be one game/team that fits your description.

SCar is behind them in terms of total talent. Clemson has out recruited them year after year.

Also, they're near Clemson-ing against SMU and there shouldn't be much confidence in Clemson. They have the talent to win for sure, but they haven't played well multiple times this year. Like it or not, Texas hasn't really played any bad games this year. Maybe Vandy and the first Georgia game, but they proved against UGA round 2 that they got that issue solved.

Their RB room may be more depleted than ours was

People are fawning over SMU's performance in that ACC Champ game....but that was more about Clemson being not good, as opposed to SMU being good.

Texas most likely will win bc the game is at home but that will be the only playoff game I see them winning.

We should admit it and make sure we're doing everything possible to exceed their level. No falling into the dreaded cycle of hoping for their downfall or an upset win every 5 years.

As for Clemson, they had SC beat so I think they have the talent to win. Klubnik will have to be on.

Odds/spreads/lines are all set to get equal money on both sides of the equation. It's not about who they think is better by a certain amount of points. Lol

The longhorns are better than Clemson at every single position. That doesn't mean that Clemson can't win, but that's why tu is favored.

It's possible. It's also possible they aren't as good as propped up to be. The 1 real team they've faced, they've lost twice. I'm not including us in there because we just didn't perform that night.

And question - do you think we would beat Clemson right now? I would say probably not. We finished the season with some struggles.

They pretty much trashed everyone on their schedule and played two close games with UGA. They are probably about as good or better than any team in the playoff and if they played UGA a third time it's possible they win.

This is true. But Georgia also has its flaws. Not a great offensive team. QB issues. The Longhorns have a great defense. But what team have they played this season that has elite offense or even elite QB play?

Every team in the CFB playoff has flaws. We are just trying to will one team to defeat.

Didn't look like it when tu got ~250 yards rushing against us. Very disappointed in our run defense down the stretch.

agree. It's more wide open this season. If Texas plays well, they are one that could win. But they also aren't fully proven yet. Maybe no teams are. Texas not having to play LSU, Bama, SC, or Ole Miss helped them a lot.

I actually think Ole Miss would be a very dangerous team in the playoffs.

They had more trouble with the lower end teams. When they faced a good team like South Carolina and Georgia, they dominated.

I mean in an unbiased opinion, they are good/ really good same with Georgia, Oregon. Doesn't mean they are elite and unbeatable

If Texas was good, they would have destroyed A&M 38-0 yet the Ags could have won that game if the offense had shown any signs of a pulse.

Texas has an elite defense and an average offense with a quarterback who can be a bonehead. It will take a miracle for a team with that makeup to win a NC.

You can win championships with an elite defense and an average offense only if you have a quarterback that can manage the game properly. That has not been Ewers. It's going to be near impossible to win 4 more games with the way Ewers plays.
