So since Nic's production was cut in 1/2 this season vs. last, would expect the same (i.e., stats can be misleading IMO). Not disparaging Nic nor this kid, but do think, week in and week out, talent in the SEC (esp at OL) is consistently better than schedules in BIG10.

Didn't look at Purdue's sched, but know they struggled and blown out a lot (well, recall seeing some very lopsided scores flash on the TV). Didn't watch them play nor this kid, but really want to know if we want kids off non-winning teams (not CFP level of winning, but know the culture of winning as their team got 7-9 wins or competitive week in and week out).

Purdue was one of the worst teams in the country this year..!! Scourton at least led the B10 in sacks and was from Bryan. This guy will not produce at SEC level.. why can't we ever get transfers from top schools who want to get more playing time.

Paying players sure is cool.

just because a guy went to the same school and plays the same position doesn't mean his production will be the same good or bad. i do know we need some strong side defensive ends so if the kid has a high motor and can play let's get him and four more guys to go with him.

Scourton is a really good player and tough for anybody to be compared to. If this kid is good and wants to play here, I say welcome.

First question for him on his visit: How good are you at getting to the QB or RB with a offensive lineman holding you?

Next question: Do you maintain gap integrity and not let qbs and rbs tear us up on the ground (in fairness- up through LSU our dline did a much better job of this... crap hit the fan at USC)??

Most teams don't raid top schools for multiple guys a year. Maybe a couple like Dezz Ricks or Scooby (not that florida is a top program right now, but a top tier name school) But not the majority.

Mostly you are getting guys who have proven to be more productive than their initial offer out of high school warranted.

You should scour all over. Whether it's a back up like Ricks from Bama who still can develop, a quality player at K State like Will Lee, or a lower level guy like Marcus Ratcliffe from San Jose State.

You aren't going to load up with all San Jose State guys, but you also aren't going to load up with all Alabama guys, either. It will come from all over. Maybe a top tier program or 2, maybe a bottom feeder, and anywhere in between like Kansas/Purdue/Kansas State.

Heck, Alex Howard transferred for a brief moment from Youngstown State, then left to Duke. He might have been our best LB this year. Or at least a top 3 guy. Had 80 tackles and 6 sacks.
