Serious question. When was the last season we didn't have our starting QB go down and miss games?Lilly Biucci said:
No, Zeno won't single handedly beat Georgia, and probably won't supplant Reed, but he'll be able to execute if Reed ever goes down and will help us win the games we're supposed to win.
This approach looks good on a message board, but in a real world with limited resources you need a coach and others in the program to evaluate what our budget is, what our needs are and then allocate accordingly. If we are going after the most expensive player in the portal each year even when that person isn't playing the position of highest need for us, we are going to find it a lot harder to plug other holes we have elsewhere.Onionman said:I was baffled last year how almost no one on this forum wanted Cam Ward because everyone thought we were good with Conner.McKinney Ag69 said:
We should be looking to upgrade in the portal at every position every year. Even quarterback. No one's starting role should be safe. Our players do the same after all. They go to where they feel they will get the most playing time and money.
Look what a qb transfer did for Oregon. I'm positive OU is about to go out and upgrade at qb in the portal. Notre dame got a qb in the portal and they are a playoff contender. We have to start thinking this way if we are going to be yearly contender. We can't get a freshman and wait for him to develop and take his lumps here.

This year, I'd argue we need experience and depth at QB. But we need to be directing our big money in the portal at other needs, like playmakers at WR and restocking the DL.
Looking at last year and the very early way things are developing this year, I'm pretty optimistic about the way Elko is managing the portal.

JAG. Perfect fit for our roster, I suppose.
can't be worse than present situation here.txaggiefarmer05 said:
If this guy is playing meaningful minutes next year I'm going to make so much money betting against us. He's the ultimate dink and dunk QB.
Ah yes, 73% and 3,300 yards in one season. So bad. lol. I'm sure you've watched UAB a lot.South Platte said:
Zeno sucks.
Does QBR record when you don't see or get the ball to open WRs? If so, how?JohnClark929 said:
Agree we need to use the portal for all positions including QB; just keep in mind Reed was ranked #23 in NCAA QBR so he isn't as bad as some posters think.
lol. If he's coming here to ride the bench, then what an odd decision for his remaining eligibility.Kwade23 said:
Will be a good depth piece at QB. Hopefully he brings something to the QB room to help Marcel grow.
No, he didn't. Lol. He lost us our last 3 games. So he went like 2-3 on the season.vander54 said:McKinney Ag69 said:JohnClark929 said:

It's not necessarily that Reed is bad. The question is can we do better?
And the answer is almost definitely no. You aren't going to sign definite better when you don't have a clear path. Especially at QB.
Reed finished the year as our starter and he put up some strong numbers.
He'll probably come in to compete but I doubt they guarantee him the job. Weigman, Longstreet, and Henderson all left because the writings on the wall. It's Reeds job to lose.Ag1188 said:lol. Also why not finish your degree at A&M? Probably better than finishing it at UAB.
He was definitely ass. Little better against an awful Auburn team. Reed can't pass well enough for the SEC.vander54 said:Ag1188 said:No, he didn't. Lol. He lost us our last 3 games. So he went like 2-3 on the season.vander54 said:McKinney Ag69 said:JohnClark929 said:

Yes because it's all his fault we lost those games

Only ass I've seen is you. Constant negativity and always trying to **** on any positive.
Reed had a very good QBR. Closed the year (last 4 games) with 64%+ completion percentage. Average 230 yards a game down the stretch, even with his season low of 146 vs tu. But our entire team looked like ass outside a select few and Reed was our best player on offense that game. Plus none of this includes his rushing stats.
One last thing Auburn, USC, and tu were all top defenses in the SEC
So... Don't let the big money owner that played some ball 60+ years ago should not be calling the shots in the day to day operations?McKinney Ag69 said:
It's a business now and the minor league for the NFL. These guys are all free agents and we need to run the program like an nfl franchise. Hopefully run it like the chiefs and not the cowboys.
I think some of these players get too comfortable getting paid millions and coast a bit. There should always be a next man up mentality and a fear that someone is coming for their spot

Unless this kid is really good which maybe he is with a 73% clip, it's a little wild we are grabbing a QB before we see who else gets in the portal. There will be some accurate gunslingers.vander54 said:
Hearing more and more that Zeno is our guy and niw Fong agrees.NEW: On3's @SWiltfong_ has logged a prediction for Texas A&M to land UAB transfer QB Jacob Zeno👍

Zeno has thrown for 4,948 yards and 32 TDs in six seasons.

I don't understand this fanbase's obsession with Henderson after he was the 3rd string QB two years in a row under two different coaching staffs. Just because he made some good plays against bad defenses last season?romanagg11 said:
UAB QB, that's a winner… for HIM! Business decision and he gets paid, regardless if he plays a down. Keep Henderson, give him a chance with Klein!
I don't understand much of anything about this post... All of our rostered QBs have been in the playbook all season. He was QB3 because he was the 3rd best QB on the team behind Weigman and Reed.romanagg11 said:
Uhmmm, not exactly obsession but the fact that he's been able to study the playbook all season. He's been 3rd string probably because of a lingering injury. Not really sure, It just seemed like a desperate move, all I'm saying. Klein obviously sees the value added here.
