Outside of a few New Year's Day bowl games they have never meant anything. It's just a fun game against opponents that you rarely if ever would play, gets some extra practice in, and is a good experience for the players. I understand that the portal has made it less relevant, but let's not act like bowls were super important before the playoff. I hope lot of Aggies travel to Vegas and have a great time!

8-4 Iowa, 9-3 Duke, 8-4 Baylor, 8-4 Texas Tech, 9-4 Tulane, and 7-5 Georgia Tech are all better match ups and all of them are playing SEC teams in bowls.

But congrats to the BMAs, A&M admin, and TexAgs staff who get to go blow their money gambling in Vegas.

We aren't happy about playing SC? I feel like this is a pretty cool game for us…

This is a great bowl game for us after our November meltdown.

Problem with bowl games now outside the playoffs is all the opt outs/ transfers.

That has killed bowl games more than playoffs

Teams are playing with skeleton teams .

New Year's bowls only mattered for conference partisans and for mythical national championships after polls moved after bowl season.

Bowls have basically given you an NC every year for most of their existence, outside of that, yep, they don't mean anything. You know, it kinda depends on which one you're playing in. I'll give you the Vegas bowl doesn't mean anything.

Except for the fact that they didn't start releasing polls after the bowl games until the 70s.

What are some of your favorite memories of the John Hancock Sun Bowl? Or Pulan Weedeater Bowl? Or GalleryFurniture.com Bowl?

I can't imagine these people griping about playing a historic team like USC. So much better than TxTech or Baylor in the Texas bowl.

I think it's a great matchup. It's our own fault that we missed the playoffs, so I'm not whining that the game doesn't matter.

We get to play a traditional football power from the other big conference in a prime time game on a Friday night. We haven't played USC since 1977, so I'm looking forward to it. Whoever thinks opponents like Baylor, Tulane, or Georgia Tech would be better is crazy. They had slightly better W/L records than USC against much weaker schedules.

And that's just the team matchup. As far as Venue, Vegas beats all those as well.

I think you might actually believe what you posted instead of trolling which is scary.

Las Vegas is far better than any spot but Nashville.

Pretending to be mad we didn't get a trip to Birmingham or matchup with Tulane is hilarious.

Of course, those types weren't going to any bowl anywhere

Sorry not sorry for looking at what a team actually did that year instead of being distracted by the logos on the helmets.

If you're not in the playoffs a bowl game is the equivalent of a participation ribbon so worrying about being in a "better bowl" is silly. Might was well try to get in one that is, at the very least, in a good location and Vegas is about as good as it gets.
