You think Starkel was better than Mond?

No, but I think Haynes King is.

They didn't exactly compete for the starting job. Kellen was an entrenched senior starter when Haynes was a freshman, and it was the COVID year.

Starkel and Mond did battle it out for two years.

When is the last time we successfully recruited a top ranked QB and developed them? Since I became an Aggie dad this is what I have seen…

- Tannehill was a WR, before we realized he was a good QB

- Johnny football was not highly recruited as a QB, but we got lucky

- Stowers, Hill, Starkel, Calzada, Allen, Kyler, King, Weigman all left (did I miss someone?)

- Mond was developed to be good enough to get us in the CFB discussion (and most now consider his coach terrible)

- Johnson transferred in (and out) and gave us all he had.

This habit has to change if we are to become a successful program.

Same for probably most top programs.

The point is that the roster of quarterbacks that have left since Johnny is a better roster than the ones who have stayed. That has to change.

Absolutely not true.

Every program has QB transfers & most have good ones transfer but very rare (if not unique) to see the sum results of the ones that transfer end up being better than the sum of the ones that stay.

so does this make maximus johnson who transferred in and then transferred out =?

Eli Stowers says howdy....4 star QB who was a good QB in HS (passing and running) and think he won state at Denton.

Tannehil was recruited as a qb, but he played because we needed receivers.

don't forget Jameill Showers, he played several years in the NFL

I wonder if you added up the career NFL years of A&M QBs (since Tannehill) - those who stayed versus those who transferred out. is it 3:1 for the transfers?

Thanks. That's what I thought, but wasn't sure, as 2010 was our first year. We will give Sherman credit for developing Tannehill and maybe a little for Johnny as a redshirt. But I still believe Kliff had a lot to do with Johnny's success.

Tannehill was not a WR that we just decided to play at QB. He was an athletic QB that wanted playing time before Jerrod Johnson was done playing.
