His coordinator hires. Bateman was a failed defensive coordinator that was back coaching linebackers when he was hired. He may be running an Elko defense, but he isn't Mike Elko. I have a little more sympathy with Elko taking a chance with Klein. He seemed like an up and comer that had shown 2 years of efficient offenses at Kansas State with 2 different offenses that took advantage of his teams strengths. Unfortunately, he changed nothing here. This years offense looked like Jimbo 2.0.

Teams figured something out about us down the stretch and this team could not adjust. That's on Elko.

Recruiting is not at the level of the big dogs. It's a nice class but isn't on par with the elite teams we hope to be on the level with. The o-line recruiting is especially weak.

The regression after the LSU game. I saw a team that was getting better week to week until the LSU game. Afterwards, they looked like a much worse team. They had everything to play for and they looked totally unmotivated. Thats on Elko.

The bad first half's. I know we all love to talk about Elko's halftime adjustments, but why can't we just come out with a good game plan in the first half?

Red flag that we hired someone else first then settled on him to look less dumb. 2nd red flag loosing williams kid to tu. You have to drive from Galveston almost thru college station to get to Austin can't loose those recruiting battles.

On recruiting. Elko is looking for proven players in the portal instead of unproven high school recruits.

It's the right play if you're t.u. going for 1 yard against us, because you're about 90% sure you're gonna get it. It is 100% the wrong call for Elko when the whole season has shown you that you have only about a 10% chance of getting that yard.

What makes it especially hard to accept is that we tried to run it up the middle out of the shotgun both times. And the 2nd time was after an effing timeout! Inexcusable and horrible play-calling.

I believe that Texas showed tonight that they have an elite defense and we don't…..Reed has raw talent, but is a RS freshman who didn't even start the whole season….we need a physical, big framed RB to stand a chance at 4th and 1 against this D….Moss if we had him would would've made a difference tonight. Again, I believe it's our players, not the schemes….

Sure, but Moss wasn't there and Klein has decided to keep running Daniels up the middle for no yards the last 3 SEC games. I get not having the talent, but I'm sick of A&M always having these unimaginative coaches that don't ever try to change things up. Piss poor offense got Jimbo fired and Klein looks like he's running the same old slow l plodding offense that Jimbo ran. Teams have been loading the box up against us all year, just like the 6 years of Jimbo, and we refuse to attack the middle of the field which is wide open.

For an offense to "work", especially against good teams in big games, you need to have difference maker players..tell me who do we have on the offensive side that are considered difference makers? Name one WR, one RB, one TE…..not even Reed can be considered a difference maker because he is too young and inexperienced

Klein is the problem, he completely mismanaged our QBs and is unable to score no matter who is under center.

Marcel is the better QB mostly because he can escape pressure and make plays with his feet. We need this ability because Klein can't call plays to save his life.

Marcel won the starting job in LSU game due to LSU being unprepared. Credit where credit is due, he won us that game. But out side of this game…

Marcel is 4-3 as a starter. Wins- BG, Arky, Florida, New Mexico st, Losses- SC, Auburn, tu
And Conner is 3-1 Wins- Mckneese Missouri, Mississippi St, Loss - ND

What if both QBs are good enough to win games but Klein just sucks? Do we really need to rely on a 185lb freshman QB's legs? At least next year he's a sophomore and hopefully he puts on weight

well be better find a friggin QB. Having to start a RS Freshman on a big stage like that is a recipe for disaster. CW flaming out is equivalent to their Garrett Gilbert. Sips spent a decade looking for a decent QB. Elko needs to fix this next year.

Underrated analysis...to fire the coordinators after year one literally might guarantee a multi year purgatory for this program. It will never happen thank God.

The OL/DL disparity either determined the outcome or was the most glaring difference. I am hoping they (our guys) are athletic enough because you can't really coach that up enough to make someone elite.

tu only really relied on Simmons as a young player but you can tell he is a future NFL star barring a injury. They have a very physically developed, seasoned group on both sides of the line and it takes a minute to get there.

Really don't have a choice but to trust who we have as coaches to develop who we have and add a portal stud or two...

Knocking calling the same play after numerous failures stands to reason. It doesn't address why we can't run that play and have success at least once because other teams do that all the time. What bothers me is that we were a competent team through 8 games. Afterwards, we steadily digressed to the awful showing last night. It seems to me that there are more fundamental issues inside the locker room than simply changing coordinators. Our problem certainly was not a lack of talent. It was that the talent we had performed way below its capabilities down the stretch.

Dumbest comment of all (not yours, the original post). We would take Richard Simmons in hot pants if he would lead us to a SEC title.

Amazing that they get there in Y1 and we are still on outside looking in.

I can point to one thing that happened to start that slide. We lost Moss. He was really the only "very talented" skill player we have/had on this team. I don't think that was coincidence.
