Good - Defense never quit and played above their heads in most games.

Injuries hurt us this year - especially on Offense - which was uninspiring but good enough to win in several important games. Does Coach E try to grow Coach K or cut bait? One or the other is required to take the next step…..

Coach Elko either made or allowed some bad calls on offense in key games this year based on who he wanted us to be and who we were (lots of high risk 4th down attempts in key games that failed/felt desperate and displayed lack of confidence in the team as a whole).

Need some difference makers on offense (skill and oline) and in the defensive backfield/LB corps.

Coach E -take care of your health - be an example - and elevate the team based upon this year's lessons….

I think we know now the rebuild of the dumpster fire Jimbo left us was a taller order than originally thought. We have zero depth and even York said in the press conference that the program used to be a circus. I'm willing to be patient with Elko knowing what damage Jimbo did to the program.

Paying a guy $80MM not to coach and having the replacement take over one of the most talented teams (247 index) in the country and the easiest schedule A&M has had since it joined the SEC to post the same record that A&M fired it's previous record for isn't a good first year.

Defense has been trending noticeably downward since Elko got here. Offense has gotten worse, especially the offensive line / running game. Recruiting rankings are trending downward.

Culture doesn't seem to be improving. A lot of sloppy plays, penalties and a lack of discipline. Attitude on the field, etc.

Hell, would have been better to keep Jimbo and the extra $10MM in annual NIL (currently being used to pay out 2 coaching staffs). I'd say the first year was a disaster for an $80MM investment... actually went backwards.

I disagree. I think his OC sucks tho, and DC isn't good either.

You can look forward to seeing the exact same thing until we fire him 5 years from now!

You don't think a decent head coach would've stepped in and said "hey maybe we shouldn't keep running plays where our **** gets pushed in"

He may not be. But I'm not ready to write him off just yet. He'll hopefully mature as a head coach, hire better assistants, and build a winner. Dude may well get fired in a couple of years, but I don't think he's our problem. The Jimbo train wreck and a weak OC are the biggest issues.

We've had two double-digit win seasons in 30 years, and two top 5 finishes since Bear Bryant left. I think everyone can calm down and stop freaking out about 8-4.

If he doesn't replace at least one coordinator then we hired the wrong guy.

The only thing at this time that could impress me about Elko is if he fires the OC in DC tomorrow.
I know that's not gonna happen but it would be impressive.

We are a 6-6 team who lucked into an easy schedule.

The team lost the final 3 conference games and wasn't even competitive at home against your in state rival. Keep in mind that SMU is playing in the college football playoff, while half of A&M's roster is going to skip out playing in the Texas Bowl. He will be replaced in 4 or 5 years.

We absolutely should have done better. Who the f*** wants to hear the Eyes of Texas playing at Kyle Field after this game? I don't think there is a Former Student still breathing who was alive the last time we won a National Championship. Hell, there is not an undergrad currently at A&M who was born the last time we won a conference championship. Pathetic. This sleeping giant is comatose.

We secured a winning SEC record for just the 4th time in 13 years in the SEC by staring 5-0 in SEC games, but we ended the season with 3 consecutive SEC losses. Hopefully, we will win our bowl game to finish 9-4 (5-3 SEC). A loss in our subseuqent bowl game would mean finishing 8-5 and 4 consectuive losses to Power 4 teams. Our only win in our last 5 games would be over New Mexico State after a 7-1 (5-0 SEC) start. That would be similar to 2016 when we started 6-0 (4-0 SEC and 5-0 Power 5) only to lost 5 of our last 7 games, and our only two wins in that span were in cupcake games against New Mexico State ant UTSA. We lost our last 4 SEC games and our last 5 Power 4 games, including a 33-28 loss to Kansas State in the Texas Bowl.

That has been every year since the big money rolled in for facilities. Between resources, proximity to talent, money, fan support, etc the absolute floor in any year should be 6 wins. A&M is guaranteed to play at least 6 games a year against programs with far less of above. That effectively means the BMA's have been paying 10's of millions for ~2 wins a year and 8-4. Their return is about as good as the federal government.

8-4 in a more normal, tougher SEC season is 5-7.

Sark had a losing record his 1st year at UT and lost to a bad Kansas team at home. Very few other coaches have done better than 8-4 their 1st year

Very frustrating last 3 SEC games. But, perspective about 1st year head coach records is important. Need to see improvement in year 2. I expect we will.
