even if South Carolina jumps Ole Miss & Alabama and replaces Clemson at #12, the Big12 winner ranked behind them would push South Carolina out. So Notre Dame must lose, right? (14-14 at halftime between USC & Notre Dame). A&M stealing a bid would also push out South Carolina.

If our Aggies win tonight and beat Georgia, I would I believe they'll be ranked in the top 12 and would have earned their spot in the college playoffs

Yeah I think South Carolina and Alabama probably end up on the outside looking in without help. Biggest question marks I think are what happens with ND and if the ACC gets multiple teams.

SEC: 3 teams (or 4 if A&M wins out)
Big 12: 1 team
G5: 1 team
ACC: 1 or 2 teams
Indy: ND if they win today. Otherwise 0

With Penn state winning, they need Indiana to lose to Purdue or Miami to lose to Syracuse (knocks Miami out if the ACC title game).

Penn state will be in with a win today even if they lose next week.

SC should make it for the same reason FSU did not last year. SC has three losses, in large part, due to their QB and RB being injured. Now that they are healthy they are a very tough offense.

Honestly Miami should be out if they lose to Syracuse and miss the ACC title game. Don't forget they were given two games by the refs. They'd still likely be in even if they win and lose to smu next weekend.

They're definitely out of the lose this game and Clemson beats SMU

They're in basically because they need 12 teams and they have 1) Brand name and 2) A heisman finalist QB

First. It is nothing like basketball. Basketball has a conference tournament after the regular season where everyone plays again and whoever gets on a hot streak automatically gets to go to the Big Dance (along with who ever earned the right in the regular season). In football, the top two teams with the best conference standings play each other (not the whole field) and winner gets in.
Second. That is how the CFP is set up, it isn't stealing, it is earning.

Miami or South Carolina, is a question.
