They look like pretenders

Tulane killing themselves with turnovers inside Memphis' 10. That last one might be a backbreaker.

Tulane and Memphis would be average Big 12 teams. That is not meant to be a compliment to those programs but a commentary on that conference

Both those teams have talent, just very raw

Schedule and conference. Not much respect for either. They are 6-2 in a pretty weak conference as well. The Tulane win could put them at or near the Top 25 though.

It is sad how far the college Thanksgiving day games have dropped. Used to be one of the best college football days of the year and now we are reduced to Tulane. Great job College Football.

Blame the NFL. The networks correctly decided it was stupid to try and compete against the NFL games which are now basically all day long.

I actually think it is a combination of NFL, plus College making poor decisions for Thanksgiving day. Seems to have started when we were put on probation and they tried putting tu vs baylor on Thanksgiving day, thinking people would actually want to watch that garbage. They lost all momentum and now we have Tulane.

I think this will be pretty typical of non-P4 conference teams now. Some of the really good G5 schools found some diamonds in the rough and were able to keep them there for 3-4 years. Now if they show talent early, those Memphis/Tulane guys might not be Bama or LSU guys, but they can be Ole Miss, TCU and Ga Tech players.

I guess the reverse could be true. If you aren't starting at LSU or Tennessee, maybe go play at a decent non-P4 school. If you have more eligibility, you can always go somewhere else if you are really good.

Coaches don't like to play a big game on a short week and want their bye week more in the middle of the season

The SEC November cupcake before rivalry week served a purpose but it was bad for season ticket holders who 1/2 the time the last home game was against a terrible opponent &
The networks did not like having a chunk of the conference playing a game with little appeal

It's why I just like all teams being required to play a conference game but that's just not college football
