They will call holding when we stop them on third and long and they were going to punt anyways...and the flag will come out late when the referee realizes they're going to be short of the line to gain.

A&M is down 14 calls to its opponents for the season (Texas is down 10). Based on that even if A&M's opponents had one more holding penalty per game the total flags wouldn't be equal, much less the type of infraction.

Since holding and to a lesser extent PI can be called many times per game that kind of dichotomy overall in calls is something you can live with. The difference in average yards penalized for both teams is pretty close (-13 or so yards for A&M vs. its foes to -10 or so for Texas).

I'd be surprised if Texas didn't get flagged a couple of times for holding now though now that the lack has been pointed out.

Penalties mean nothing unless you look at them in the context of the situation. Those are the penalties that someone needs to break down.
