Georgia, Bama, Vols and winner of our game with Sips will be the 4 SEC teams in the playoff if they all win out in the regular season.

Ole Miss losing at Florida is exactly what concerns me about our game tonight with Auburn.
We've got to play our best football of the year.

And the other possibility if you believe in the Sip conspiracy is BOTH A&M and sippy goes ahead of Tennessee because the Vol's overall resume is pathetic.

Win the next two and we're in!

Don't care about those other SEC teams.... only care about one team; starts with with a T ends with an Aggies

if Indiana is out of the CFP...

then there is room for 5 SEC teams

the sips probably all but clinch a spot with a win over Kentucky today

If we go 1-1 next two games, and Bama loses to Oklahoma and TN loses to Vandy.. it'd be rematch against us and Sip in SEC championship? Where does Georgia fall?

In this scenario it would be A&M/Georgia. A&M over t.u./UGA based on conference opponent win percentage and then UGA over t.u. with the head to head.

Unless OU also beats LSU. Then it goes to scoring margin and who the hell knows how that turns out.

I'm confused why people think anything else matters in the SEC other than our games.

We are in the playoffs if we win out. We're out if we don't.

Lol. There is no way Tennessee gets in over texas (and tough to put texas in without A&M who would've just beat them).

Tennessee lost to Arkansas. So it could be between A&M vs Tennessee, and we need to not lose bad in the SEC title game - especially vs Alabama who Tennessee beat.

It helps in the scenario where we lose SEC championship convincingly

If we can't beat friggin Auburn we don't belong in the playoffs.

As long as we win the next 2 and LSU wins out, I think this seals it for us even if we lose to someone in the SEC title game. Obviously, we have to win the next 2, but whether that means the committee decides to let tu in with their crap schedule or limits the SEC to 4 teams and leaves them out, it gives us wins over collectively better teams.

Between us beating tu in this instance and a healthy Florida team on the road, I'd think it'd be enough tangible evidence that we should be in over tu.

Now we just need Marcel to start getting 65% completion percentage….

Bravo to UF...bet we'd struggle to beat them as they have improved a bunch.

While I hope staff shows the team this score, there's a high historical correlation of upsets in a day where Ags point fingers and then when we get to our game, we do not perform. Hoping Elko can shake that crap off for tonight.

That was fun to watch! I don't care much for Ol Piss, and went to the Florida game this year. Good vibes from Gator fans, so felt good for them (in addition, of course, to it helping us out).

He's had 64% the last two games.

Win 2 in a row: regular season SEC championship and #1 seed in CCG our first ever.
Win 3 in a row: we get a top four bye and our first CFP invite.
Win 4 in a row: we play in first CFP semifinal.
Win 5 in a row: we play in first CFP final
Win 6 in a row: we win first NC since 1939 against a truly legitimate playoff field. So first real NC.

Lose 1 at any point: done.

If Alabama loses to either OU or Auburn, A&M could make the SECCG even with another loss.

We control our destiny by winning our next two games against Auburn and Texas to reach the SEC Championship Game, but Ole Miss's loss eliminates at least one team from a log jam of 10-2 SEC teams. If we beat Auburn and Texas but lose to Bama in the SEC Championship Game by 8 points or fewer, I think we will get in. If we lose the SEC Championship Game by 10+ points, we are likely left out.

11-2 (6-2 SEC) SEC Champion Alabama probably get one of the top 4 seeds for a first round bye.

10-3 (7-1 SEC) Texas A&M: 3-2 against ranked teams with home wins over Missouri, LSU, and Texas, a home loss to Notre Dame, and a road loss to South Carolina

10-2 (6-2 SEC) Georgia: 1-2 against ranked teams with a home win over Tennessee and road losses to Alabama and Ole Miss

10-2 (6-2 SEC) Tennessee: 1-1 against ranked teams with a home win over eventual champion Alabama and a road loss to Georgia, but also a disappointing road loss at Arkansas. Unlike Ole Miss's loss to Kentucky at home, Tennessee's loss to Arkansas was on the road. Unlike Kentucky, Arkansas will finish either 6-6 (3-5 SEC) or 7-5 (4-4 SEC), depending on their season finale at Missouri.

10-2 (6-2 SEC) Texas: 0-2 against ranked teams with a home loss to Georgia and a road loss to Texas A&M. Florida will probably beat Florida State on the road to finish 7-5 (4-4 SEC) and end us as Texas' best SEC win. Their 3 road wins came against Michigan, Vanderbilt, and Arkansas, but none of them will finish better than 7-5.

If we beat Texas, Texas will not have a single win over a team that finishes the regular season ranked or with 8+ wins. That means they have the weakest resume of the 5 SEC teams with 10+ wins.

I haven't really thought this through, but I wonder if it would make sense for the CFP committee to have a rule that says you can't move down in the rankings after a conference championship loss, except by being leaped by a conference championship winner.

I agree that a team should not be punished for a conference championship loss. If we lost to Alabama by 8 points or fewer, I think we will still get in, but a loss by 10+ points could eliminate us because 2 of our 3 losses would be by double digits.

I agree. A conference championship appearance should be a guaranteed playoff appearance. If we lost to Alabama by 8 points or fewer, I think we will still get in, but a loss by 10+ points could eliminate us because 2 of our 3 losses would be by double digits.
I don't think it should guarantee a playoff appearance. I just think you shouldn't be punished for a loss in an extra game that the other teams didn't have to play.

effing committer better value our record and rank appropriately along bama and Tenn...our record should be the same ball park and no reason for the huge discrepancy between A&M and bama/Tn as it sits currently.
