How would a 10-3 SEC championship loser fair against the remaining SEC teams that finish 10-2 in the eyes of the CFP committee?

If that scenario plays out for A&M where we win out and lose in the SEC Championship, I don't think the committee will let us in. They will go with a 10-2 record over us.

In 2022, TCU was #3 and lost in the Big 12 title game. They remained #3 and got a playoff spot.

Depends how bad we lose the game. Look mediocre, and they'll give it to the Sips and say our Home Field was the difference. Even if Sips got humiliated by Georgia at home. Beat texas and be competitive in the SEC title game.

How many times are we going to beat this topic into the ground? Our only chance is to win out and win the SEC.

Lol. That is definitely not the consensus. We'd have to suck in our 13th game to get passed over by a team we beat a few weeks ago who has worse resume and same record.

i find it interesting that everyone always assumes it's us losing the conference title. what happens when we win it and bama or georgia has theee losses. do they get in over say texas with two losses. especially if it were georgia who had already beaten texas. does a 10-3 georgia get in over a 10-2 texas?

No one remembers the 2nd place team so who really cares

The committee is favoring numerical record over any form and f analysis of schedule toughness Sankey lost the argument. And Big Ten benefits from clearer paths to the playoffs.

So no. SEC runner up isn't likely to be given the benefit of the doubt if three losses.

Humiliated? Beat by 15? How do you describe our 24 point loss to South Carolina? A 10-2 Texas is probably in. That has nothing to do with our chances. If we beat them but have 3 losses (SEC game loss), we probably aren't in. Win the SEC and we have a bye. I expect when you look at who got in, after the fact, no 3-loss team will have made it.

Depends

Blue Blood or not.

SEC champ game loser should get a first round home game. That should easily be the case. But of course politics will screw that one up.

It's almost comical how bad the rankings have been by the committee so far.

They should but if it's the Aggies, we won't get in.

That's why the topic is still coming up. As it is now, that seems to be how it is. But we have no idea what the committee will do. Honestly, it seems they rank based off of feels.

We need big wins against Auburn and sips to possibly wow them. 21+ on the road with Auburn and 14+ against tu will have us riding high. It's rare but if we did that we could be getting all the attention in college football and impact how the committee comes out to save face for their mistakes this year before the SEC championship and then the playoff

Depends…
How bad did you get beat?
Did you lose to the same team twice?
Did you lose 2 out of your last 3 games played?

Assuming the SEC is getting 4 teams in. If we beat Auburn and Texas but lose to Bama in the SEC CG by 7…

Bama gets the bye probably as a 2 seed. Aggies would be 10-3 with wins over LSU, Missouri and Texas.
Texas would be 10-2 with victories over Vandy?
Georgia could be 10-2 if they win out.
Ole Miss could be 10-2 if they win out.
Tenn could be 10-2 if they beat Vandy.

I think Georgia, Texas Aggies and Ole Miss would be in with Texas having lost to Georgia and Texas Aggies out. Tenn could be in as a 5th team but I think they just miss.

In your scenario it will not be Texas getting in over us. It would only be Tennessee. I do think they would put a 10-2 Tennessee team over 10-3 Aggie team that lost to Bama by 2 TDs or more. Tennessee could claim they beat Bama and went 1-1 vs top 10 teams where Ags at best would have gone 0-2 vs top 10 teams. Remember Texas would not be ranked ahead of us so they would most certainly not be ranked top 10 at that point.

Now for the other twist. If SEC were able to get 5 in because ND or IU were left out, it would be Texas and Texas A&M in over Tennessee.

The committee has horn over UGA after they went down to Austin and spanked them at home so what do they know?

I was always of the mindset that the conference champ game should not hurt any participant BUT the committee will not honor this just for the SEC.

If BYU wins the conference, in the CFP after the regular season and loses they CCG they are out.
If Miami wins the conference and loses the CCG, they are out.

They may say the CCG doesn't hurt you but it sure would hurt Miami/BYU.

So far the selection committee strongly prefers fewer losses and worse strength of schedule…

Loser of SEC title game should make playoff if it is tu or Ags since SEC tiebreaker already sorted out who is best

If bama or georgia or ole miss or whoever loses in the SEC title game then they will have 3 SEC losses like South Carolina, Mizzou, LSU and I think they should be left out

I know out of conference makes a difference but ND was week 1 and they are also a 'quality' loss compared to the rest of the field so I think us with only 2 SEC losses should get in over say bama with 3 SEC losses

If the loser is A&M, the answer is no. If the loser is tu, the answer is yes.

If we beat Auburn and Texas but lose to Bama in the SEC Championship Game by 8 points or fewer, I think we will get in. If we lose the SEC Championship Game by 10+ points, we are likely left out.

11-2 (6-2 SEC) SEC Champion Alabama probably get one of the top 4 seeds for a first round bye.

10-3 (7-1 SEC) Texas A&M: 3-2 against ranked teams with home wins over Missouri, LSU, and Texas, a home loss to Notre Dame, and a road loss to South Carolina

10-2 (6-2 SEC) Ole Miss: 1-1 against ranked teams with a home win over Georgia and a road loss to LSU, but also a very disappointing home loss to Kentucky. Ole Miss will probably be the only Power 4 team that loses to a Kentucky team that will likely finish 4-8 (1-7 SEC).

10-2 (6-2 SEC) Georgia: 1-2 against ranked teams with a home win over Tennessee and road losses to Alabama and Ole Miss

10-2 (6-2 SEC) Tennessee: 1-1 against ranked teams with a home win over eventual champion Alabama and a road loss to Georgia, but also a disappointing road loss at Arkansas. Unlike Ole Miss's loss to Kentucky at home, Tennessee's loss to Arkansas was on the road. Unlike Kentucky, Arkansas will finish either 6-6 (3-5 SEC) or 7-5 (4-4 SEC), depending on their season finale at Missouri.

10-2 (6-2 SEC) Texas: 0-2 against ranked teams with a home loss to Georgia and a road loss to Texas A&M; their best Power 4 wins are over Michigan, Vanderbilt, and Arkansas. All three of these teams will finish either 6-6 or 7-5.

If the CFP committee limits the number of SEC teams in the playoffs, I think Tennessee and Texas would be left out because they have the weakest resumes. Of course, Ole Miss's 20-17 home loss to a 4-8 (1-7) Kentucky could hurt them too because they have the worst loss of the 6 SEC teams that finish 10-2 in the regular season.

10-2 (6-2 SEC) Ole Miss: 1-1 against ranked teams with a home win over Georgia and a road loss to LSU, but also a bad home loss to Kentucky for what will likely be Kentucky's only Power 4 win.

10-2 (6-2 SEC) Georgia: 1-2 against ranked teams with a home win over Tennessee and road losses to Alabama and Ole Miss

10-2 (6-2 SEC) Tennessee: 1-1 against ranked teams with a home win over eventual champion Alabama and a road loss to Georgia, but also a bad road loss at Arkansas.

10-2 (6-2 SEC) Texas: 0-2 against ranked teams with a home loss to Georgia and a road loss to Texas A&M; their best SEC wins Vanderbilt and Arkansas will likely finish 6-6 (3-5 SEC).

100% But lose by 14+ I'd think all bets are off and honestly it would be impossible to predict.
