Lets just say Tennessee beats Georgia, and the good guys beat Texas.

Tennessee vs A&M in Atlanta. Will the loser miss out on the playoffs? and replaced by Ole Miss/Bama. Playing another game against a top 10 opponent, but also by playing another game, you run the risk of Loss #2 or #3.

If its us, then yes. If its TEX, the answer is a resounding NO.

as long as it's not a blowout, the loser of the SEC championship game will be in the playoffs.

Well, to be fair Texas would only be a 1 loss team and then a 2 loss team after the title game

If either Texas or Tennessee get here with 1 loss and lose, they will stay in

If we get there with 2 losses. I think we'd be out if we lost

This is the undeniable truth. Snakey wouldn't even argue this.

Define punished in a world where the committee tends to revenue matchups…

Not true. In 2022 two three loss CCG runners up were in top 12.

This is the accurate, unbiased truth.

You think they'd keep tu out with 3 losses? Don't forget this is politics and network driven, not the 12 best teams

No. though if there are two losses by them to us then probably true.

if Texas losses to Arkansas, they fall to 8-10… they then lose to us, they are outside the top 12 with 3 losses and head to the Alamo Bowl

if Texas losses 1 more regular season (they go to 8-10)… if they by chance made the sec champ with those 2 losses and lose in championship, they fall out of top 12….

Let's see, hypothetically...

If A&M goes 10-2 beating Texas. Then loses in the SEC title game to finish 10-3.

Now you got a 10-2 Texas that lost the head-to-head literally a week earlier to A&M versus a 10-3 A&M.

Who gets the priority to be in? Hilariously, I think it would be A&M. Which would be hilarious.

Depends on the resume….

Take Bama for instance. They are currently 4-1 against top 25 teams. I don't think any other team in conversation can come close to that outside TAMU. The difference there would be with a loss, they are 4-2. We would be 3-3 with a loss in CCG.

The danger in saying that today is does anyone think it is crazy to see Vandy beat LSU and SC and Ark beating Mizzou. In 3 weeks, Bama resume may look completely different against ranked teams. It could go from 4-1 to 2-2. Ags could go from 3-2 to 1-2. Horns could go from 0-2 to 1-2.

You say that, yet there they sit at #2 with zero top 25 wins and a resounding home loss to the only team they've played with a pulse. While Georgia has two top 10 road losses and a road win vs tu and is on the verge of being on the outside looking in

It sounds ridiculous in a vacuum but the powers that be are going to do everything they can to get sip in. Yes that's the BAS in me speaking

Georgia fell 9 spots after they lost to ole Miss

Texas could fall from 3 to 10 with a loss to A&M and A&M could move up from say 13 or 14 or even 15 to 9 with a win over sip

It already happened with TCU and Oklahoma a few years back

If A&M and Texas both go 10-2, we beat them and go to the SEC title game, it would set a horrible precedent to leave A&M out due to a title game loss and put in the 10-2 Texas team who lost to A&M and missed out on the title game.

You are then punishing teams for making it to the conference championship game.

That being said I certainly could see the committee screwing A&M like that and putting Texas in.

If it did happen, would it be infuriating? Yes. Would I take as a consolation beating Texas in their first year in the conference to go to the SEC Championship game and keep them out? Also Yes.

1. Last year was a 4 team playoff, not a 12 team playoff. You know that just as well as I do, but choose to ignore it.
2. Since when were the SEC and ACC comparable football leagues?
3. Don't forget the Jordan Travis injury. It wasn't fair to FSU that the injury made a difference, but that was a unique circumstance.
