SEC should create it's own playoff and be done with the drama

Current system is designed to generate anger and disappointment.
The drama fest of the playoff is doomed to upset people and is based on shenanigans, payrolls, blue blood history, cupcake scheduling and officiating .

BYU - Officiating
OSU OR - Payrolls north of 20 million to play teams with 1 million or less
ND can lose to N IL and be a top ten team by scheduling weak opponents and history.

SEC Playoff Of It's Own

Top 8 teams meet in a playoff format similar to NFL with tie breakers for equal records.

Team that wins it all is given recognized as the true champion, repeat next season.

Sounds like an incredibly boring regular season. Here's a list of teams that will almost never make the playoffs: Miss State, Mizzou, Vandy, Arky, Kentucky, ole miss, and South Carolina. You would essentially have 10 teams (let's say one from my list rises up each year) vying for 8 spots. That's worse than the nba letting 2/3 in the playoffs

If only there was some sort of tournament featuring only SEC teams, culminating in a "championship game" of some kind

You're fooling yourself if you don't think its fun to watch a Boise State upset an OSU or even an SEC team. A SEC championship tourney is about as useful as a college basketball tournament. Good for a team to increase seed but little else. I'd rather see us play 9 SEC games then just a SEC only tournament.

How about we get rid of the committee and pick 16 teams based on a set number of bids per conference

5 big
5 sec
2 acc
2 big12
2 g5

All participants earn their spots in the playoff on the field by virtue of where they finish in their conferences

The only thing rankings are used for is seeding and picking the two g5 teams

First 2 rounds are at the higher seeded teams stadium

Semi finals and finals are neutral site

Should be no committee just use BCS computer rankings or similar system, top 4 ranked conf champs get a bye, 8 at large based on computer rankings

Remember when people said that the expanded playoffs would ruin the importance of the regular season. Yea that was dumb. The 12 team playoff is amazing. Teams who never had a chance before now are part of college football. The only improvement they need to make is to change to a 24 team playoff and almost all the problems will be solved.

it has not ruined it by any stretch, but it has changed it. for example, that ole miss loss would have been the end of UGA's playoff shot if we still had 4 team playoff. But if they win out, they are most likely in the 12 team playoff.

same for miami's loss to GT.

This already looks better, but issue with going back to BCS exactly as it was is the inclusion of AP and Coaches Poll. So even BCS has human issues like the committee. Maybe you keep the committee and just average it with the other two polls and make the overall weight less

Of all the years to clamor for an SEC playoff due to how much better we are, I don't think this is the one. The B1G took it last year and the SEC didn't even make it to the big game. Each of the top SEC teams has serious weaknesses this year. I would not be surprised if we see a repeat of last year.

I doubt that will solve anything. Number 25 will be convinced they got the Richard, they'll want to sue, and the senators from their state will demand an investigation.

This! Everyone stop trying to NFL my CFB. They let 68 teams in the basketball tourney every year. That sounds like enough, right? Yet every year there is a blow hard talking head adamant that Team X got completely shafted and deserved to be in. Then you hear the coach and AD cry about it for 2-3 days.

There is no amount of teams they could let in short of letting every team in that would solve this phenomenon. It's a part of human nature. If we were #25 in a 24 team playoff these boards would be out for blood looking at every rating metric there is saying why we're better than the 23rd or 24th teams.

Lets have SEC playoff teams versus Big 10 versus Big 12. The SEC selects it top 4, etc... The ACC is out. ND can pick a conference to join.

No more crap polls.

Not many folks would care about no 25 being left out, just like not many care about number 69 in the ncaa's

The talking heads just make some noise because it's something to talk about that folks are interested in at the time but then it goes away quickly

I think 16 should be the next number, but for some reason the powers that be want there to be a number that leads to byes for some teams

I see no point in including the big 12 at this point, but otherwise completely agree and I think it will happen within a decade. We send 4, y'all send 4 and let's go. Match the rest up in meaningless bowl games for fun/practice if you want to keep doing that.

We sure as hell cared when we were #69 three years ago. If we ended up #25, the meltdown would be the likes we've never seen before

16 would be the sweet spot. That pretty much guarantees a minimum of 4 SEC teams each year. If you aren't in the top 25% of SEC teams you don't deserve a playoff spot.

I bet if it expanded to 16, the SEC and B10 could also demand 4 auto bids each. Then you could give the olive branch of 2 auto bids each to B12, ACC and G5 leaving 2 open spots which could mean ND or 2 more SEC and B10.

4-5 SEC teams in a 16 team playoff is pretty generous. And that format above shouldn't be a hard sell. You're adding 4 teams and virtually guaranteeing the lesser conferences twice the participants.

This is the way. I would even be fine with

3
3
3
3
2 G5

If you can't make top 3 in your conf, to bad, better luck next year.

No more $20 an hour ref. Give them proper training and pay them well.

No ccg game
Conferences must play a regular season that is at least 50% of their size for example if a conference has 20 teams they must play 10 conference games
Expand the field to 16
Tell Notre Dame to join the ACC or BDF
