I personally think we have to win CCG to get in and that a CCG loss eliminates us but for fun what do we think top 15 looks like.

1-. Oregon
2. OSU
3. Tex
4. Psu
5. Tenn
6. ND
7. Indiana
8. BYU
9. Ole Miss
10. Bama
11. UGA
12. Boise
13. Smu
14. Miami
15. Ags

20. Miz
21. LSU
22. Sc

I think we can move to 12 the next 2 weeks. Beat Tex and maybe 8. Lose CCG and I don't see how we stay in top 12

If we win CCG we are gonna be a bye and seeded in top four as a result. How high depends on the three other top four champions. If Army wins out there will be a huge public push by media and "fans" to put them in the top four so multiple loss teams could be vulnerable.

If we don't win the CCG there are two examples of CCG runners up with three remaining in the top 12 from 2022. The CCG is counted roughly as hslf a win or half a loss. The key thing that is different is tip for seeds mand st be conference winners. At large and fifth conference champion playoff to play byes.

This year is intriguing because there is a lot more parity and a couple of Cinderellas (Indiana and BYU.) There was a lot of contention here in the Big Ten and SEC requests for guaranteed access but it f you out more teams in fewer conferences and they are more competitive there will be more losses. College football was built arrive two myths: shamateurism as righteousness and zero-loss seasons as holiness. Both are false,

I totally understand the reasoning the committee had for ranking OSU over Georgia last week... But I'm still not sure how they can put them at 2 when Oregon is at 1? Do they not have to basically rank the first 4 as who they think will be the 4 automatic bids from conference champions and then rank everyone else 5+?

No

They rank them in order of who they think is the best/most deserving

Then the byes conf champ thing settles itself on the field

The 4 conf champs that are ranked the highest get the byes: the rest of the playoff teams are seeded in order of ranking

If a team that doesn't win its conference is ranked 2nd they will be seeded 5th in the playoffs

Yea it's really bad this year.... it seems like everyone's schedule is *****

Indiana hasn't played anyone, and hadn't even played a traditional big 10 power until Michigan this week (on their worst year in recent memory).

tu
Miami
Byu

The top 10 is littered with teams that haven't faced much less beaten a top 10 team. And we are 2 weeks into November!

Conference realignment has screwed this up really bad.

There is a very good chance that if we lost the conference championship game we would be out of the playoffs, but it's impossible to know with a month to go. The way this season has been a lot of teams in the top 15 are going to take some more losses

The crazy part now is essentially Georgia, Bama and Ole Miss can all be in by winning out and not even making the the SEC championship game. That would take up 3 of the 4 supposed minimum spots for the sec.

Which would then mean why the hell would we play ND of that loss is gonna hurt you when ole miss played no one ooc. Ole miss lost to Kentucky at home and lsu, both who obviously won't be in the playoffs.

Do not color me surprised to ant and all shady officiating down the stretch. Texas loses to us and they'll still be considered in.

This **** could get crazy and the reason why 12 team playoff renegotiations are up after next season.

Also why a "power 2" league is in the near future and why Texas, Oklahoma and even FSU and Clemson were/are fighting to get out.

Writing is on the wall and the sec and big 10 won't be in the business of sharing any possible playoff income with teams likes of byu or an ACC winner that isn't one of fsu, Miami, Clemson, Virginia tech, Virginia or North Carolina. Those 6 teams/schools will be guaranteed a seat at the table at possibly Louisville

Any of those teams would beat the hell out of a big 12 or ACC team. It's the best 12 teams, not the best 12 records. HTH

It just seems like this year, more than any I can remember, every team can lose on any given week. There just doesn't seem to be a truly dominant team. Our wins against Mizzou and LSU are suspect. But, tu's wins against Michigan and OU look awful. They got handled by a Georgia team that was clearly up for that game but, all-in-all, doesn't seem to be that great. Who knows what Alabama team is going to show up from one week to the next? The polls are worthless at this point.

Exactly why we'll be at power 2 conference structure in the near future.

My understanding is that the near future is a 14 team playoff. Big and SEC champions get 1 and 2 seed with a bye. Also talk of those conferences getting 4 auto bids.
2 CCG participants
#3 SEC plays #6 SEC for auto bid
#4SEC plays #5 SEC for auto bid
