Longhorns best win?

It's pretty unlikely Texas gets in at 10-2, so the easy sked did the Horns no favors. Assuming that 2nd loss is to A&M I think Texas slots behind every potential 2 loss SEC team but Mizzou when it all shakes out.

All the other 2 loss SEC teams would have at least one or more big wins, which will outweigh Texas' no bad losses, (which is not much to brag about).

It's been a fun season and the expanded playoffs have been integral to it.

Sips best win is a 6-4 Vandy who they beat by 3 points.

I still think Texas loses again before they play us. I think Ark will beat them, but if not, I could see Kentucky sneaking up on them in a trap game.

The CFP committee said they put OSU at #2 because they had the best loss against Oregon....

I'm surprised the selection committee released commentary to go with their initial rankings. Link? I'd think if the committee was going to riff on their rankings they'd be even more impressed by OSU's victory over one loss PSU, although the close Oregon loss on the road is about as good as losses come.

Edit - Found the quote (pay site) from the committee chair and I'm unconvinced best losses mean much absent big wins.

Quote:

. . , Undefeated Oregon is No. 1. Their win against Ohio State and their 5-0 record against teams with winning records earned them that spot. Ohio State is ranked No. 2. They had an impressive win on the road against a strong Penn State team and played No. 1 Oregon down to the wire in Eugene. They've had a good strength of schedule, and they're 5-1 against teams with winning records. . . .

It's not like our schedule was murders row. In conference, outside of LSU the only other team we played with a pulse was SC and they embarrassed us.
Without a doubt the easiest schedule we've had since we joined the league and it's not even close

And STILL not as cake as theirs. The intent from ESiPN/Snakey was laughably obvious

Quit whining. They keep winning and that is all that counts. A lot of folks dont seem to understand that and have this finger pointing attitude.

A&M has PLENTY of opportunities. We control everything.

If we had beat ND, we likely would have been ranked #1, 2 or 3 in the country prior to USCe game.

If we kept our loss to ND but beat USCe, we are probably ranked top #8 today and absolutely a major CFP contender.

What the common denominator here?

Quit complaining and pointing the finger at the kid with the candy you want. We still control everything and can take a dump on Texas' season. Win out and nothing to whine about. Stop worrying about other teams. It is going to take Elko into 2026 till the national media and voters give A&M any respect.

We play them at home. Why does their schedule matter?

Yes sips best win is vandy. Most overrated team as always.
Repeat of last year.
They have played one good team in uga.

If LSU and Mizzou win out, and it's very likely, we will have 2 wins better than any one of theirs.

We must win the next three to keep politics out of it.

This thread cracks me up.

People just trying to use teams records to justify stances.

Yes our SEC schedule is easier than it has been the last 12 years. But it's still tons stronger than the sips schedule.

Hey Ags, it's OK to state their schedule is pathetic. And the gators team they got was on their 3rd string Ivy League walk on QB. Please quit showing how bad you have BAS. It's embarrassing.

We control our destiny and the only hard game left is at home.

DO NOT overlook Auburn at home.

Within a week of Texas' 2nd prospective loss the committee will get it right - if they didn't immediately.

Another loss in the regular season should have Texas behind every 10-2 SEC team but Mizzou assuming the Horns' loss is to A&M. No bad losses can't trump no good wins vs teams that have them. Moreover Georgia and A&M would have the head to head. and Bama, Tenn, and Ole Miss would have the same vicariously 1-2 degrees removed.

Even if Texas wins out until the conference championship game and then loses there will be some pointed comparisons between the 11-2 Texas profile and the 10-2 at large aspirants as far as big wins - although I think Texas will be safe then.

Now everyone else in the conference may finally be waking up a little bit to what A&M fans warned them about.
An absolutely pathetic schedule being gifted to t.u. to help grease the skids for them to the SEC championship game.
Not a single win over a team in the current Top 25.
And other than Georgia and A&M...there is a possibility that no other team they played will finish above .500.
Yet...there they are....perched up high in the rankings...as if the CFP committee cares absolutely nothing about strength of schedule and beating anyone of consequence.
Every other team had to earn their ranking by actually playing and beating somebody decent...(excepting newbie fair-haired Indiana)..but not t.u.
Par for the course.
