Without him now this offense would appear to have little chance at being ok. Do you even play him a next game or give him some rest and reduce risk of injury?

I would consider resting him. He is going to need to pull an Achane from LSU game for Aggies to beat Texas.
Nothing looks more foolish than tradition to those who have none.

no chance? Do you know the story of the 12th man? If we need a running back, I'm sure someone on this board or in the stands can fill in and do just fine. Come on man, have faith.

You absolutely play him. The more reps the better. Get him up to game speed because he is gonna have to be a beast for us

Play Daniel's as much as needed to secure the win then rest. As for his backup we should consider playing Bussey as receiver back/3rd down back. Smith just has no explosion to his game.

Give Daniels some reps to shake off the rust from the bye week but get ej, bussey and whoever else you want to use at rb plenty of reps vs New Mexico st

Get snaps for all three in practice and games with ones and twos. Emphasize practice effort creates game PT. Coaches need all three every game.

Daniels has a real opportunity to differentiate himself in his junior year and earn a full-time starting role next year.

Daniels only chance to start next year is if Moss heads to the NFL and Owens recovery doesn't go as hoped. He's just not a RB1. He's a plus RB2 and best helps the team in that role.

Daniels should be fine. He'll probably get 10 carries vs NM St then have to be a work horse for at most three weeks. He's a quality back and hasn't had to carry the bulk of the load so far so a few weeks of heavy work after a few light weeks should be fine.

I'm not totally out on Smith. He appears to want to run patiently and let the blocking form (sound familiar?) but lacks the vision to capitalize on it. Hits the wrong gaps or runs into tacklers. Fix his vision and he may be much better. But as it stands now he's not ready. Hopefully with more reps it'll improve?

Dinota should get some carries against NMSU. Daniels gets maybe 10-12 carries at most. I'm hoping we work on sharpening passing game.

i had high hopes for smith to contribute at the bare minimum as a pass catcher. to be honest and this isn't personal but i have been kind of disappointed. he avoids contact and you can't be a successful running back on the sec if you don't like to get hit. they need to use him mostly as a pass catcher cause he isn't picking up the tough yards.

RB2+ guys usually grow into RB1's. Daniel's should be aiming to be the second starter next season, and he has the best opportunity to prove it right in front of him.

Agree that the tough yards don't appear to be in his purview.

To be fair, smith hasn't had much of a chance to play. Maybe now that he'll get more carries, he'll have a chance to get in a rhythm running the ball

He's had a couple of bigger runs called back on penalties so maybe more carries will ignite him and he'll start to find his groove

At least, one can hope

That's what I'm hoping as well. We will most likely find out.

Aparently we do have someone from the defense working at RB right now.

Watch they end up playing and being a stud.

I don't know of any that have the size to run between the tackles which we need since Smith and Bussey haven't proven they could for more than a few carries.

Amari will be fine, especially if we get Bisontis back. Smith is way too slow to be a threat. We're better off playing Bussey as a back-up.

Is it Brooks?

If it is Brooks, we may be very happy. His cousin was a baller at Texas.

I like surprises like this. And glad the coaches are thinking this way.

Brooks may be a good choice but he is also one of our best safeties so his touches would be limited. Might be enough to give a breather though

Jayvon Thomas? Think he played a little RB in high school and a track guy.

This is why I'm not sure it's Brooks.

I know Jayvon Thomas played RB some in HS but I wouldnt mind seeing Myles Davis at RB.

Didn't Davis play receiver on offense in HS, or more of an Ath position? Also a track guy. Like his body type/size.

WR and track. I too like his size, it's a big reason I mentioned him.
