No, it's because there are 14 Saturdays between Labor Day and Thanksgiving weekends instead of the usual 13 Saturdays between these two weekends. It will be the same next year before reverting to one bye week in 2026. Assuming 12-game regular season schedules, the next time for two bye weeks after 2024 and 2025 is 2030 and 2031.DrZ said:

Looks like Florida State treated most weeks as a bye week.Mozart Paintings said:
"Teams have two byes this year due to an NCAA bylaw that prohibits FBS programs from playing their first game of the season prior to the Thursday before Labor Day, which fell on Aug. 29 this year. That marked the official start of Week 1, with the first full Saturday of college football falling on Aug. 31.
Between Aug. 31 and Nov. 30 -- the final Saturday in November -- there are 14 Saturdays to play 12 regular season games. That means a majority of FBS teams will be provided an extra week off. Some teams, like Florida State, will even have three bye weeks."
It has everything to do with an extra weekend between labor day and the final Saturday in November, and nothing to do with election years or playoffs or anything else.
