I'm starting to like this guy. He's a bit of a throwback to 3 or 4 decades ago. Funny how wins start winning the fans over.

It's not what is said, it's how it is said. Elko doesn't just yell and go through the motions. His conviction is genuine and it shows, and you can tell the players know the difference. Comments like "Elko is a wizard" clearly demonstrates he has established credibility so I think the words take on more meaning. I was glad to see him get out in front of the next week as soon as possible. Loved the "the decision you make tonight will reflect on your ability to win next week which will be the hardest game you will have played".MisterJones said:

Weigmans read issues are obvious on film. It's not like elko would have watched tape at that point. Also, at halftime, what is the right move for a coach? To tell his players the qb had a **** half, or to push the wideouts to give max effort?

I won't agree that we "have" to start him, but I do agree that he will be needed again, and probably more than once. I believe we're in a 2 QB system going forward.

I would say it's both….the receivers and the bad reads/missed passes from Conner.

ETA: I'm not taking a OLine from a small college turned SI writer's take on how to play QB. He contradicts himself on the ease of throws over the middle. Conner should definitely make the "easy" throw but Nuss made a terrible mistake when he did it. There were plenty other flaws in his analysis. CW made mistakes for sure but his take was intentionally taking shots at CW

Not only that, I seem to recall him saying they did watch tape at half during the interview after the half.
Klein was almost certainly watching tape the entire game when not calling plays. I'd imagine he relayed what he was seeing to Elko as well.

Elko is the freaking man. Running a business, which it's what NIL has turned college football into. Nerd about football, passionate about his culture, and surrounds himself with people on the same mission. Right man, right time.

He and Dan Campbell have similarities in yelling style. And everybody seems on board. He is inspirational, direct and to the point, and analytical. I don't see anything so far that he doesn't get about winning football. Seems to be working. No doubt has plans for this QB conundrum and will implement but will change if not working out. Has the good sense and courage that vibes from self confidence to make a decision about changes in tactics. Two impressive game winning decisions so far: Start Connor in one, and relieve him in the other.
