If you haven't been to Carneys in a while you will be surprised. Very large outdoor seating with BIG screen TV. Really large draft beer selection.RealMcCoy09 said:
lol at Carney's. They aren't trying to drink under age, but I had a lot of A&M experiences there.
I was really sad when I learned that Alfred T. Hornback's closed shortly after I graduated in 2010, that was our walk to bar from our house.
The Tap always had really good food and was not the absolute s#$! show that Northgate turned into after a game, may be better to hit up on Friday night rather than trying to get a ride over to it after the game.

Okay, let me set you straight. THIS IS NOT A "TERTIARY RIVALRY".
LSU/A&M is a great rivalry, and one that to many Ags is now superior to and preferred to the rivalry with that other school.
This rivalry started in 1889 and Saturday will be the 63rd meeting.
LSU leads the rivalry 32-23-1.... BUT:
A great majority of the games were played in Baton Rouge before the 80s:
1889 -1956 Record:
3-0-1 @ Kyle Field
5-7-0 @ Baton Rouge
3-3-1 Neutral
From 1960 to 1975, the teams played every year for 16 years, and only in Baton Rouge
4-12 @ Baton Rouge:
THEN, after A&M's program kicked into gear following scholarship limits and the admission of black athletes,
A&M won the last two meeetings in '74 and '75. After a 39-8 pasting in Baton Rouge in '75, LSU cancelled the home series even though they had a contract to continue it. BAD BLOOD!!
6-4 @Baton Rouge/Kyle Field 1986-1995:
When LSU became a hot program in the mid '80's, they asked A&M to resume the series, which we did on a home-and-home basis. LSU won 4 of the first 5. Then A&M under Jackie Sherrill and RC Slocum won 5 straight from 1991-1995. Once again, LSU cancelled the contract and refused to pay the agreed upon penalty for doing so. MORE BAD BLOOD!!!
2012 SEC ERA Begins
3-9 @ Baton Rouge/Kyle Field
The 2012 game with Manziel probably kept A&M from a national championship. Despite FIVE (5) turnovers by A&M, two missed FGs, and a missed XP, A&M lost 24-19.
A&M proceeded to lose 5 more in a row, although the first 4 of those wins were vacated by LSU.
In 2018, A&M finally overcame LSU, winning the highest scoring game in NCAA history 74-72 seven OTs.
Since then, the teams have alternated victories on their home fields, although truth be told, A&M was hosed by the SEC refs in Baton Rouge in 2021 when it stripped LSU of the ball in the last two minutes (no timeouts for LSU) and the refs completely missed it and the play wasnt even reviewed. MORE AND MORE BAD BLOOD!
So much for the "tertiary rivalry"!

Awesome, glad to hear that and thank you for the additional insight. I assumed (you know how that goes) that it was third behind Texas and Arkansas from a rivalry standpoint. Happy to learn it's bigger than that. We're here for the hate, bring it on.

A little scared to ask but is Koppe Bridge no longer there?

You are welcome to crash our tailgate at Reed Arena (corner of Tom Chandler and Olsen). We have a big white trailer that says "Tailgate like a champion" on a maroon sign on the back.
We are frying and cooking lots and will have a dozen or so LSU fans with us. Going to have a wet bar with chest high table tops and a couple TVs.
They are feeding the ESPN crew btw.Camo said:

Might be for this game, but unfortunately the spot next to Elko has already been taken.OBE4ISU said:
- Are there any standing room only areas/tickets? Seems like maybe I'm seeing some chatter about that some places online including a thread here.
