I believe that fan shirt color does not make the team play better. Therefore, I choose to further advertise A&M's brand (maroon & white). I wouldn't wear a Tech shirt to an A&M game, yet everyone seems to think wearing their colors to represent our school is noble. I don't get it. But I also don't understand horns-down when we aren't playing t.u., so I guess I'm the weirdo.

To answer your question… yes, which further proves my point. I care more about the on the field product than some strange adherence to a color scheme. I really don't get why ONE game alternate uniforms is somehow giving up who we are. We're also not repping Tceh by wearing black. They don't corner the market on that color…

Wrong, for a NC I'd also sing the Eyes of Texas every morning when I wake up for 5 years.

You know what else has changed? Campus, Revs' grave location, buses used to move students around, just about everything...

It's so silly. Just support or shut up.

Obviously what we wear has no immediate impact on our team, but if it meant we get the stud recruits that think it's badass that we black out the stadium which leads to our overall program success, are you going to renounce your fandom and turn in your Aggie ring because "our colors are maroon and white dammit"?
Have you ever thought that we've already gone overboard toward becoming like every other University (e.g., DJs, no Band March-In, etc.), and now let's just make it a complete "join the sheep" effort by giving up our Aggie Colors (Maroon & White, for those who don't know)....... and so, we become like every other football program and stadium experience...... sorry, NOT FOR ME !!!

This issue has NOTHING to do with support of the team ! It has to do with are we unique (in a positive way) as Aggies, or do we just want to fit in and be like everyone else ?

What makes you think wearing black for one game is "giving up our Aggie colors"? I'm pretty sure we have worn (and will continue to wear) some combo of maroon and white for every other game this year

Another fashion issue. Take it to the FFF board.

I've commented here that all the alternate uniforms look like a circus to me.

However, if the players are reaching out to students to wear all black, by all means wear black. That epitomizes the 12th man. Get over yourself and just do it.

While expressing support of the players I can also say, after giving it some thought, my initial reaction (I acknowledge as that of an old man) is to a culture where "image is everything." Literally.

Iconic teams like the Yankees or Alabama don't put up pretenses.

They just win (obviously not all the time).

And I like that. They don't need a special environment or a change of appearances. They're just going to beat you, and confidently so, on merits alone.

i will have my 70th birthday this week and i have ordered my black shirt for this weekend. I see no issue with a change that the players are behind.
I was at the Miss State game when they came out in all white and then we came out in all black. That had been kept a secret, I believe, from everyone including the players. It was a surprise but a good surprise.
I'm not for doing what Oregon seems to do and that is changing uniforms on a weekly basis. However, change on an occasion is good.

Like I've said before; some top players find alternate jerseys cool. Look at NCAA Football 2024 or whatever it is. The players like choosing alternate jerseys in the game. It's one of the best marketing tools to attract players (see Oregon Ducks). One of the weakest areas of TAMU is marketing (See the Bevel and comic Sans fonts). We're not Alabama, nor are we Oregon but any tool this Athletic department can use to gain NATIONAL RECOGNITION helps. I love Maroon, but we need to think outside the box sometimes.

This is our exact point and why this a monumentally ******ed decision by our AD/admin. It's the biggest most meaningful conference game we've played in as a member of the SEC in 12 years. The biggest game of the week in CFB, and televised in prime time with the nation's eyeballs watching…so if you're talking about NATIONAL RECOGNITION…do we showcase our school colors and our branding? Nah, **** it we'll wear alternates that are monochromatic and not a school color like some high school team, or worse, Tech.
I guess if we're afraid we're going to get beat it makes sense, but outside of that, it's just the Aggie admin at its finest.

I tried to buy black shirts online with Aggie logos of some type but they couldn't guarantee delivery on time . I settled for charcoal gray at Academy for our group of 4. Hope that's good enough.

Wear black

This is not a normal season.
JFF wore black
This is not a normal coach
The rest of the season is normal colors
Black amps everyone up
No one will question your traditions
Black is also proven to be more intimidating
You play better when you feel cool. Last i checked the players aren't 51 years old. They are built different
Enough of the Saban wouldn't do this
You olds are gonna look like little brats

Again, just this one time dang

Yes I'm an old.

I'm an old army guy and would prefer we stick with maroon, but I don't get the angst over this. It's not like this is a noon game in early September. Just wear a dark shirt, or not. It's really not that big of a deal.

The admin had nothing to do with it. The players requested the fans wear black.
Give me the guy who shoots for excellence and fails over the guy who shoots for mediocrity and succeeds.

Oregon has built a lot on what was initially jersey hype... they've worn a lot of colors including black and white instead of just green and yellow.

Maybe everybody in the stands should be wearing dollar bill green to show our support.

I can't believe that this is the zoo burning issue of the day. Came here expecting to read about QB play or who has the better defense for the opposing team's offense or something actually relevant to football. But it's fashion show week for the lsu game instead. Whatever...

In Eugene for my first parent's weekend. Heading to Autzen for the game and am trying to find options for watching our game after. Clearly will be on everywhere, just curious if you have any specific recs, especially if local Ags gather somewhere.

Gang, we have already done alt uniforms in the past. Cats out of the bag. We are free to have fun.

Quit asking if Bama has done alt uniforms. They haven't.

I was just asking as I thought they must have to have recruited that well and won so many natty's. Posters have said it accomplishes that.

I am a traditionalist, this is true. Our colors are maroon and white, but you know, they actually wore grey pants when I stepped onto campus as a fish in 1985. I have also seen them wear alternate unis when Sumlin was here. I never had a problem with those alternates since, oh, I don't know, I don't play for the team. Same thing here.

The players asked us to wear black. I am just a single part of the 12th Man, but I will support the team as always. I will be wearing a black A&M tee (a Jimbo shirt, but it's A&M and it's black) along with dark shorts and black shoes. And I will do what I can with my vocal cords to make Nussmeier regret his comments about Kyle Field.

Alt uniforms are not magic
Still gotta play football and recruit and make good coaching decision

With that being said, if the uniforms mean nothing let them have fun.

It's like letting your kid have a cookie at 10pm once in awhile.

Sumlin had like 4 or 5 completely different jerseys in a year, not just differing combos
