modern A&M History?

1992 12-1
1998 11-3
Would you consider a cell phone, car, or TV built 26-32 years ago as modern?

Nebraska was winning national championships with a power running and option game during that time. Would you consider that Husker offense a modern offense?

Unfortunately not every single year. There has been a handful of years that after Week 1 we all knew what the outcome was going to be.

Arkansas State ring a bell?

We were more consistent at winning during the Slocum years. As far as conference eliteness we were considered higher then than now imho.
We were more consistent winning in a dying Southwest Conference, sure.

But Slocum rarely fared well against top competition or in bowl games. Every time we played a non SWC team, even when we were good, it was dicey and more often than not we were on the losing side of things.

There is a very realistic chance that Texas A&M and Texas are both 10-1 on 11/30, both ranked in the Top 5. What's crazy is, regardless of who wins, depending on tiebreakers, they could meet again in the CCG.

Possible, but that would be incredibly rarified air if that happens, A&M has only been in 4 top-five matchups ever.

But can you imagine the environment at Kyle Field if that scenario happens? As much as both fan bases claim they don't care about the other, that place will be an absolute powder keg.

No doubt about that, like I said, it's possible.

Very good chance of a similar scenario with Army Navy this year. Play in CCG, then rematch the following week for Army Navy game.

Every single year under RC until the last 3 games.
Gotta disagree. Those early 90s years, most of us didn't really feel it we were upper echelon elite.
I felt that way going into the '95 Colorado debacle. We had smacked LSU and hung 52 on Tulsa, and McElroy looked every bit the Heisman favorite.

Yeah, that may be the single exception. But, were any of us just "this can't be" shocked at that Colo game?

Certainly not, ,especially since I drove there to cover it for the Batt. That seemed like the automatic death sentence.

I'll never forget RC calling 2 time outs during a Colorado 2-point conversion attempt that Rick Neuheisel admitted were totally made up to try to confuse RC.
