I'm not saying we're gonna win out and be national champions.

Outside of NM, I'm not saying we're going to win another game.

But I can't remember the last time I didn't consider a single team in the nation an automatic loss for us.

You?

Probably late 2020. Maybe the year that we were 4th in the initial CFP rankings.

Agree, but I'll feel better seeing one more performance like the Mizzou game.

Gotta disagree. Those early 90s years, most of us didn't really feel it we were upper echelon elite.

2012 after Bama, 2013, and 2016 before Bama.

As good as we were in 2020, after that Bama game I never thought we had a real shot against them again.

I've never seen parity like this. Maybe Georgia and OSU were hit by draft/defections. Mich and Bama lost their coaches. Oregon lost their conference. LSU is down. tu is about what they've been, but the world has come down to them (plus, they haven't played anyone).

This is definitely the year for someone to step up and take the brass ring!

Same. Show me some consistency and not that the Mizzou game was a one-off performance.

Never cause we win out in regular season. And that would mark the best historical season of A&M football as we make SEC champ game and gain a CFP opportunity. Even with up to 3 losses by the end of the post-season.

Making the CFP gives us our 1st legit chance to win a natty since I was born almost 50 yrs ago. That is why I would consider it out best season of modern day football.

On Monday, I'm always convinced we will lose the game we have coming up.

Mississippi State just put a bunch of points on Georgia. They hung pretty good for a while against Texas. SEC road games are never, never easy.

I would respectfully disagree with you. We are nowhere close to being upper elite. We had the true wrecking crew and our competition hated coming to Kyle Field because we just didn't lose often at home during RC's years.
The old SEC teams have had decades to build respect and winning traditions. Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Florida have all won multiple national championships. They may have an off year or two but seldom do they stay average for more than a year or two before they were contenders again.
It will take us consistent back to back years of good success. We have been in the SEC for 12 years now and never have won any SEC West or SEC Championships.
We play some good football and had Johnny and the Heisman but we are not elite by SEC standards.
Hopefully sometime we will be.

There is a reason a meme exists of Aggies climbing the roller coaster of expectation only to fly off yelling "furk" by October.

State has been one of those teams I expected to beat most every year, arrogantly thinking of them as a lesser SEC squad when the reality is we're not much different.

State rallied from a 30-3 deficit in Tempe versus what is shaping up to be a fairly decent 5 and 1 Sun Devil squad that is coming off of a win against #16 ranked Utah.

They gave Texas fits until the 4th quarter in Austin.

Down by ten in the third quarter in Athens and ended up losing by the same.

And then there is our history with the Bulldogs, which is quite disappointing. 6 and 6 since joining the SEC. And of State's 6 wins 4 were in Starkville.

They now have 5 straight losses and more than likely believe they can beat a ranked Aggie squad to regain some sense of respect.

LOL, I never asserted we have ever been elite. Certainly not in the early 90s.

State has been, somewhat, of a thorn in our side since the Snow Bowl.

Exorcise that evil, beginning this weekend, and make it look more like our series against Arkansas will give me much more confidence in our trajectory.

We were more consistent at winning during the Slocum years. As far as conference eliteness we were considered higher then than now imho.

I am not surprised that we are 15-point road favorites at Mississippi State. We have won 5 straight games, including 3 SEC games by a combined margin of 95-47. In contrast, Mississippi State has lost 5 straight games to FBS opponents, including all 3 SEC games by a combined a combined margin of 121-72. Even MAC Toledo throttled Mississippi State 41-17 in Starkville on 9/14.

However, Mississippi State scored 31 points, including 21 second-half points, against Georgia's defense on the road. That was the most points Mississippi State against an FBS team. In Mississippi State's previous four games against FBS teams, they scored 23 points against Arizona State (away), 17 points against MAC Toledo (home), 28 points against Florida (home), and 13 points again Texas (away). Allowing 31 points to this Mississippi State squad led by backup QB Michael Van Buren Jr. shows just how far this once-elite Georgia defense has fallen.

Georgia 41, Mississippi State 31: Let's Talk Hard Truths - Dawg Sports

After Georgia led Mississippi State 34-10 with 13:48 left in the 3rd quarter, Mississippi State outscored Georgia 21-7 in the last 28 minutes before losing 41-31. It shows that Mississippi State did not give up on that road game or the 2024 season. If Mike Elko has his team prepared for this road game after a bye week, I expect a 17+ point road win because Mississippi State is still the worst SEC team.

My cycle is always the same doesn't matter who we are playing:

Monday: No way we are winning this week.
Tuesday: Probably going to drop this one but just maybe, if X happens just right, we can survive.
Wednesday: I know we are favored, but the media doesn't realize... this is a tossup at best.
Thursday: I'm hearing the team is really focused. I think that we have a mismatch at .... fill in the blank... I'm getting a little more optimistic, I think we can win this one.
Friday: This is the year all that crap gets thrown aside. No doubt the other team is going to be geared up, and we need to be ready, but we are going to get it done.
Saturday: THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR LOSING THIS GAME!
Sunday: Bask in the glory of the win, or avoid TexAgs and live in denial for a day, before starting again on Monday.

I'm looking forward to Thursday.
