tu has absolutely kicked our ass in-state this cycle. Despite that we've manage a solid class, albeit mostly without any high 4 or 5 stars. Hopefully we stay focused, get in the playoff, and supplement ourselves with high end transfers. Then with some momentum we even things up in the '26 class.
After this cycle, we can't continue to let tu and OOS programs take 90% of the Texas top 20 prospects (tu has about 25% committed) in a given class and expect to be anything but second fiddle in the long run. We have to hold our own moving forward.
We don't have any composite five stars, but I would say we have a decent number of high 4 stars.
We have 5 national top 100 commitments as things stand now. Good chance to add to that.
Jimbo, who's considered an elite recruiter, FWIW, had the following number of national top 100 guys:
2018: 2
2019: 7
2020: 5
2021: 4
2022: 18 (the obvious outlier)
2023: 5
Pretty much an average year for Jimbo outside of the out of this world 2022 class. And again, recruiting isn't where Jimbo failed.
We obviously would like to land at least two of the states top 10, but ultimately, it doesn't matter where they come from. You can build a championship roster with zero if you do other areas well.
