No tu is our biggest game
This. Rivalry + highest ranked team (at the moment).

Would you rather lose to Mizzou but beat Texas, or beat Mizzou but lose to Texas? I think we'd all pick the former.
Actually, no, you don't speak for me on this one.

This is what kills us. The mindset we don't care who we lose to as long as we beat the sips.

If I had to pick one (no option to beat both), this year, I would rather beat Mizzou and lose to the sips. Why?

Again, until we consistently win the games we're "supposed to" to be a top tier program, it does not matter if we play spoiler to a higher ranked team. I get that the sips are currently ranked higher than Mizzou, but we haven't proved we are consistently better than Mizzou since we joined the SEC.

We are "Texas 8&4" until we:
  • stop barely getting by Arky,
  • beat everyone in the SEC we "are supposed to to be a top tier program" (e.g., does GA or Bama sweat the Mizzou, Mississippi State, Auburn, Kentucky, South Carolina games)
  • are at least favored more often than not in the harder SEC games (e.g., LSU, UT, Ole Miss)

Beating Mizzou tells me we are finally making progress to be top tier SEC. Losing to Mizzou but beating the sips tells me we are Texas Tech.... just the spoiler team. I'm done with that mindset.

If we lose to Misery, there are no more important games this season.

There is one game that will be important whether we win or lose this weekend.

I have no reason so far to believe that Elko has any more competitiveness and killer instinct than any of the other soft, mediocre, happy-to-be-here coaches that we've had since Sherrill was booted out. This would be a good game for him to show us that he does.

Every game is important, but let's be honest, beating LSU or Bama is the real statement-maker. Mizzou's a hurdle, but it's the road to those bigger showdowns that'll define our season. Eyes are on the ultimate prize.

I sincerely hope he retires here. He is a phenomenal coach.

The world woke up and realized when Duke trounced Clemson last year. It was insanely bad luck when they lost to ND last year.

Had Jimbo still been here, there's a high likelihood we're looking at 2-3 instead of 4-1 which was nearly 5-0
