SC is a trap game. Night game in Columbia after their Bye week

The only scheduling gripe I have is it seems we're playing a lot of games against teams that had an extra bye week to prepare while our byes are before Miss St. and New Mexico State.

This is still a 7-5 team. They're decent, but have major flaws that can't properly exploit a pretty favorable schedule. Anything past 7 wins should be viewed as an overachievement.

Maybe we'll get 8 or 9 next year.
Explain to me how your evaluation doesn't also apply to South Carolina, Missouri, and LSU? That' why we'll be favored in those games, yet most of us call them a toss-up.

Assumed wins
Miss St., New Mexico St., Auburn

Toss Ups
USC, Mizzou, LSU

Assumed Loss
tu

Based on your rational, we can't win a single toss up game against teams with the same evaluation?

Come on.

We avoid Alabama, Tennessee, and Georgia (all Top 5), and we get tu at home.

If we go 8-4 our best win is likely a Mizzou team that has sputtered all year.

LSU has a new QB and lost their best defensive player (Perkins) for the year. A loss to them at home would signal no progress.

9-3 is acceptable. 7-5 is a joke.

We've lost our starting QB and most explosing player in Owens.

Why is it certain people only apply their "logic" one way when discussing 2 teams?

Yeah, Mizzou, LSU, and @S.Car I rate about the same difficulty; @Auburn only slightly less. 'sips slightly more.

Not to be a jerk, but are you kidding about Auburn? They are freaking terrible and the team is probably 1-2 more Freeze press conferences away from open revolt (dude refuses to blame himself for anything to an almost comical degree).

My guess (giving you benefit of the doubt) is you didnt really look closely at those games. They had 100 more yards than Arkansas on the road. they had 200 more than Oklahoma- doubling them up.

They onky lost by 10 to Arky, on the road, with FIVE turnovers, and blew a 10 pt 4th Q lead vs OU w missed FGs. This is a team w a new coach trying to put it together.

If you in ANY way are booking this road game as a sure win, you're in LaLa land (not to be a jerk )
You're either very young or dont follow SEC football closely.

8-4 is not successful . This would be 0 high quality wins. We started the season ranked as the 7th most talented team in the nation with a favorable schedule. Of course it's not a complete disaster but I hope for much better but I don't this is the team to do that. If Connor is healthy and shows what I think he is we could be much better.

If offered 8-4 or play it out, I'd absolutely take 8-4. Would be a good season that exceeded expectations.
Even thought this is supposedly an "easy" SEC schedule there are no easy SEC games.

We out recruit essentially everyone on our schedule other than t.u, and ND?
LOL - doesn't take long to figure out who you represent...

I get a kick out of politicians saying "The American People aren't stupid", when they know how very stupid they really are. It's the same with Football Fans, probably worse because most have no clue about football. I want to see this team progressing and landing the recruits needed to replace the talent that left. Looking forward to the future, doesn't mean fans should be naive about this year. lol This is that year to record the game, while you're fly fishing, sit down and watch it when you can.

3-0 vs Mississippi State, New Mexico, State, and Auburn

2-1 vs Missouri, LSU, and South Carolina

Then that Texas game will likely be for a shot at the playoffs. Would make for an epic showdown with a lot on the line for both teams

yep, t.u. will have at least one loss then. If we get to that game with only 2 losses, it probably should be for the right to advance. (Except the b.s. t.u. national hype machine).

We are currently at 4-1.
I think we will go 4-3 at worst, so our floor is 8-4.
With some luck, we will beat LSU (or Miss or tu) and go 5-2 here on to end at 9-3. I don't think 10 or more wins are possible.

I would put my money on 8-4. If we ended the season with this, I would call it a good first year for Elko.

Thoughts?

OK I was very wrong about Mizzou.

So here we are after 6 games.
We are on a 5 game winning streak and very likely to get that to 6 games.
We are the sole SEC No 1 with a 3-0 record.
I had never expected we would be here after 5 weeks, with a new coach, new QB, new team.

I ate crow with the game against Missouri but here are my updated predictions.
I am hazarding a guess that we will come out on top against LSU, drinking some maroon cool-aid and wearing maroon glasses.

Final: 9-3

Ole miss defense whooped up on SC yesterday. I would expect we should be able to do so also. Just need the offense to be consistent
Give me the guy who shoots for excellence and fails over the guy who shoots for mediocrity and succeeds.

I was not impressed with USC yesterday. Granted Ole Miss didn't do much for me either.

Why on God's green earth do you think we lose to USCe?

We should be a 1 loss team heading into 11/30 game against tu.

Perhaps you should get out of Momma's basement & see the light. And maybe look at game films.

Our defense really seems like they're starting to gel. I think they'll be tough for the remaining teams to handle but offense needs to support them with some points. Yesterday was a good step in the right direction
