What are the "keys to the game"?

What do we need to do well in context of Missouri? What are their weaknesses?

I am not familiar with them but some discussion would be fun.

I think if we score more points than they do, we will probably win.

they've had a bye week to prep, heal, scout, and get ready....if their QB has time to throw, will be a long day for our secondary IMO.

We can talk about our defense all day, but in the end, the real issue is our offense.

Honestly, Reed has been a disappointment all around at the moment. Hopefully he figures it out, but the fact that we're not even seeing occasional explosive plays from time to time is giving me a lot of concerns.

If he's going to be our offense's future, this will be the game where he at least creates some plays that he did against Florida.

If Reed doesn't get it done in this game, I honestly think he'll be another dud and Elko will have to look at Henderson or, more likely, a transfer QB for next season. As for Weigman, he has been way too injury-prone, and that is another stat we should not overlook, frankly.

Point being, and i've said this for years, that the hardest route to defend is a come-back when the CB's back is turned.

Almost every CB will have his back turned at some point when you are running a vertical route in man coverage.

When the receiver stops and comes back, he will almost ALWAYS have a huge advantage on the defender.

It's time we start using this a bit more.

This is right. Arky showed me well enough that our D is gelling. We got some lucky breaks & drops from them, but overall the D performed well, and got past arky's early sizzle.

And the last 3 games have showed us that we have no closed-loop control over our O. We just seem to go out there and, hit or miss, not adjust over the course of a game.

I know nothing about this year's Mizzou defense but I suspect it'll be stiffer than arky's.

Missouri has historically played well at Kyle Field

it's like the team and the crowd don't get up to play them

and an 11am kickoff doesn't help the "get up" part

I think Wiggy is done as far as A&M goes. He's been injured more than healthy and that is never a good sign. Agree about Reed, we will need a transfer QB yet again.

Moving pocket to let our qb have clearer throwing lanes and running options.

Same offensive performance as last week won't win many SEC games, but it will beat Missouri.

They are worse than Arkansas.

They are the single biggest fraud in the top 25.

They will lose 5 games this year.

Well... At least 4. Their schedule, other than Bama, is cake. And they will still lose at least 4.

Problem with moving the pocket is that the receivers have time to run at least 10 yards downfield.

We beat Mizzou 73-0 at Kyle.

Was 66-0 until Aaron Glenn decided to return a punt 72 yards for a TD.

They might still be angry about that…

The keys are always the same. The question is - do we have them?

We do.

I have seen the outcome. It is a win. The score is blurry. I'm trying to see it.

He's a freshman, he's 3-0. First year offense with new coaches.

Yes, Missouri will be coming off a bye week, but they be playing their first road game of the year after opening the season with 4 consecutive home games. Missouri is ranked No. 9, but they have not been impressive in their last two home games. Missouri trailed Boston College 14-3 with 9:44 left in the 2nd quarter before escaping with a narrow 27-21 home win on 9/14. It was even more surprising how escaped with a 30-27 2-OT home win over a Vanderbilt on 9/21. Vanderbilt had lost their previous 9 SEC games by 16+ points each, dating back to a 56-0 home loss to Tennessee on 11/26/22, but they nearly upset Missouri on the road. Also, Missouri scored just 20 points in regulation against Vanderbilt, who had previously allowed 36 points to Georgia State on 9/14.

For these reasons, I think we will beat Missouri at Kyle Field for the first time since a 59-29 rout on 11/24/12. I think the biggest key is turnover margin. Arkansas outgained us 379 total yards (279 passing and 100 rushing) to 297 total yards (163 passing and 134 rushing), but we won the turnover margin 3 to 0. If we win the turnover margin by at least 1, we should beat Missouri. I will be driving from Austin to go to the Missouri game with my friend and his wife.

I completely agree with you. Missouri already struggled in their last two games against Boston College and Vanderbilt, and they have not even played a single road game yet. Missouri trailed Boston College 14-3 with 9:44 left in the 2nd quarter before escaping with a narrow 27-21 home win on 9/14. It was even more surprising how escaped with a 30-27 2-OT home win over a Vanderbilt on 9/21. I think Missouri will lose at least 3 road games at Texas A&M, Alabama, and South Carolina. I won't be surprised if they lose one or two home games to Oklahoma and/or Arkansas on 11/30. That means Missouri will finish between 7-5 (3-5 SEC) and 9-3 (5-3 SEC).

Yall need to score more points than they do, bottom line that's the key. Pretty confident you win. A&M plays down to the level of their opponent, but aside from Notre Dame, is finding ways to win.

Be ready to play at 11 am.
Win the turnover battle.
Run the ball and stop their running game.
Win to get to 3-0 still in first in the SEC.

Considering Weigman is unavailable due to injury, I think we are very fortunate to have a capable backup QB in Reed who has been able to win 3 consecutive games, 2 of them SEC opponents. He will gain experience this year and should be better next year. Also, I am very curious about Miles O'Neill, and don't forget 5* Husan Longstreet will be here next year.

If we don't win the turnover battle and we allow Mizzou 350 yds, we lose. Need to hold them under 300 yds and at least tie them in turnover margin. oh, and missing any FG shorter than 35yds I consider a turnover.

This will be Reeds 3rd start ever, so people need to sit back and think about that when judging him. The game was basically put on his shoulders bc we had no ground game for 3 qtrs. Finally in the 4th they figured a few things out and got it going and put up a few scores.

That vandy team also beat Va tech this year, who arguably beat #7 Miami.

I'm sure Mizzu will stack the box just like BG and Arky did. We need to have Reed hit the little passes for 3 to 5 yards with a few 10 to 15 yards thrown in. Hopefully that will open up the running game. To me Reeds biggest problem when passing is it looks like he's throwing fast balls and needs to learn to have a little finesse on the ball. I think he'll get there but we can't forget he's still a red shirt freshman and was thrown into action a lot sooner than he may have been ready for. Wig was the starter for a reason and Reed is playing pretty good under the circumstances.

Let's not forget that the 2 SEC wins were on the road. I now that Jerry's world is a neutral site but it's still not Kyle Field.
