However, you can download and activate online accounts... like bet MGM app.

( you have to validate the app on site where betting is allowed like Las Vegas...physically in Casino to be able to bet)

However, once you are in Texas, App can't take a new sports bets since app check for your physical location.


I think you can get around this by using VPM and Apps should be active for betting...in theory.

But I haven't been able to use VPN and make betMGM work.

So, hence need to help.

The legal gambling apps are smarter than this. You can't use a standard VPN with these apps. Some of them wont even let you have one on your phone even if you are in a legal state.

I knew a guy who used to do that, and it would show his physical location in California when he punched in for work.

Spoofing app will throw your location.

Any bet made while you are in Texas, regardless of where the house is, is illegal if there is a rake/vig/juice/fee for doing so

Is "placing" the bet the illegal act, or "taking"? Back in the day if a raked poker game was raided, the hosts would get in trouble but I think the participants were ok. Maybe just an enforcement thing…
