Ouch. I qualitatively saw regress in the offense. But Jackie asks a pointed question of whether it was the line or RBs. Felt like it was the line.

Sherrill shares his takeaways from A&M's lackluster win over Bowling Green
Following a muted offensive night for Texas A&M on Saturday, legendary former head coach Jackie Sherrill joined TexAgs Live to recap the Aggies' showing against Bowling Green. Sherrill spoke on the mistakes that need to be cleaned up ahead of a trip to Jerry World.
Key notes from Jackie Sherrill interview
- For me, the game's takeaways were the mistakes. You have to eliminate the mistakes, like the fumble when we were backed up. You can't give up field position. The busted coverage that resulted in a big play gave them momentum. The blocked punt also was a big play.
- The player of the game, in my eyes, was Randy Bond. He scored 14 points.
- We have to generate more pressure on the quarterback. You need to be able to pressure the quarterback in the league.
- The most important thing is that we held in there and found a way to win.
- In the first game, A&M did not play well up front. In the game against Florida, A&M played well upfront. A&M went backward this week. Is that the offensive line, or is that the running backs?
- Do we have a home run hitter at running back? Unfortunately, we lost the home run hitter during camp that we still need in Reuben Owens. We need to fix the running game to help Marcel Reed.
- I think we are improving. I think we certainly have to improve the running game.
- The kicking game is so important, and we can't have a blocked punt. Those kinds of mistakes could cost you a game. It is important to shore up the kicking game.
- Marcel Reed, for one, has talent. Two, there is no question that he will continue to get better. Three, the mixture of plays for him is still being figured out. The coaches are still trying to find out what he can do best and continue to improve on those and eliminate the things that he cannot. He can generate plays and keep them alive. He can also throw the football.
- We have to improve our running game to give him some help. You could use some play-action to help take advantage of all the players in the box. You have to get the quarterback in space to help him. When there are seven or eight people around the line of scrimmage, you have to be able to throw the football.
