What's the worst loss a NC has ever had? Ohio State had a bad one when the 4-team playoff started I think.

CFP seems to be for losers getting a second chance.

Two good teams more than often will split a series when they occur.

Remember the LSU/Bama ordeal years ago when LSU won in their conference match up then lost to Bama for the national title?

Then their was t.u/OU 4 or 5 years ago? They split that.

Ironically UGA/t.u didn't though their second game was awfully close

I agree. But rarely does a NC have a loss to a lesser/weaker conference/division. And I don't think a NC has lost two conference games (at least in the past 60 years), especially to the same team twice. Times are changing.

Because up until now losing 2 (or even 1 if it was the wrong 1) would keep you out of the top 2 (pre playoffs) and top 4 since the playoffs started.

The fact that some of these teams are still in it kind of shows that we've been awarding championships to teams for not stubbing their toe vs being the best at the end of the year. In many years, the winner would have been the same, but not always. And I'm not saying it was wrong - I'm just saying the playoff sets it up to be the team that is playing the best NOW out of the teams that played well enough to get in, which is definitely different than what we did in the past.
