It's never gotten a name because Texas has owned the rivalry, A&M never came close to investing in it's program like Texas did. Things are different now, much closer in facilities if not better. A&M's brand is in a much better place. If we beat Texas a couple times, things will be even bigger on a national scale and possibly it gets a name.
Lone Star Showdown seems decent, I'm sure some marketing group would have a great one.
Showdown meaning a final test or confrontation works as it's the last game of the reg season again.
College football and the media need big brands. College football has theirs and it takes HUGE movements to create new faces.
A&M is not a "blue blood" we're not a media darling.
Penn St,. Alabama, LSU, Michigan, Ohio St, Miami, Florida St, Florida, USC, UTrans, OU, and lastly.. the newest face to the group who was added in 15+ years ago, Oregon. Those are the meal tickets for College football. Clemson is well on their way
For A&M to be added in, we have to do more than win every other year against UTrans. We need championships in Football. One in baseball and one in football in a 2 or 3 year span would definitely help.
A&M has a long way to go. Everything is and has been in place for A&M for decades. Our culture has held us back.
Demand greatness. Demand championships
Not "well we beat t.u this year"
