8 wins with the talent we have on campus is a failure. Don't get me wrong, I expect 8 wins. But expectations are different from the standard of acceptability, which I think is 9 regular season wins.

I would say McElroy is a condescending ass for basically saying that the best we can do is ruin the season for an actual good team, but history is very much on his side, and he's probably right. So I'll just hope he's wrong this time.

agree. I took it as, him saying; your place is to ruin ther seasons of teams that actually have a shot. to me, that's a backhanded compliment.

personally, I'm a believer that we will get 10 wins and make the playoffs.

If a team is "ruining seasons", then they are beating teams on the road or as underdogs. Sounds like 9 or 10 win season for that team.

8 wins is a good season.
New staff.
New system.
At best a shaky, questionable O line.
A QB that hasn't finished a season.
Lots of transfers in.
We definitely do not have 8 guaranteed wins on the schedule.
6 wins is much more likely than 9. I predict 7-5.

Not that this message board ever needs to be reasonable and fair - but we've won 10 games or more once this century. I know our expectations are always to do so - and they should be! But a national analyst who generally craps on us saying we could get to 10 and ruin some people's seasons sure feels like a good thing to me.

He also he thinks we can get to 8, 9, or even 10 wins. Sure, 8 wins would just represent a decent team. But I'd say 10 wins would represent a good/great team, and one that has a great chance to be in the 12-team playoff.

8 wins is a good season.
New staff.
New system.
At best a shaky, questionable O line.
A QB that hasn't finished a season.

6 wins is much more likely than 9. I predict 7-5.
Vegas has the o/u at 8.5, so 6 wins is not much more likely than 9.

For me it would be to ruin Ole Piss' season. Absolutely loathe Kiffen and the bs he pulled on the sidelines last year or the year before, can't remember. Unfortunately Ags don't get the opportunity this year.

I can't believe anyone would read that and be pumped. It's basically a patronizing pat on the head...."maybe you can wreck a good team's season." In short, he had to say something positive and this is the best he could do.
It may be accurate, but is nothing to be excited about.

Nobody should ever be "pumped" about what some talking head says.
That said...I don't think it was a patronizing pat on the head at all.
He basically said, "I think the Aggies could win up to 10 games this year. Even if they don't, they could at least spoil some teams' seasons".
