Probably buried in the depth chart. Transfers come here to play.

Elko basically did a tryout and the best transfers will stay and play key roles this coming season alongside returning guys.

I heard Dabo Swinney speak last week. He said he had 127 players and spent all day having "exit" meetings with players. Most entering the portal now are guys being told they will not play where they are.

Actually, this is the best reason for the portal. Guys being told the won't play is way better than them being forced out when they CANT play right anway elsewhere. Or worse, having to stay there because they don't want to sit a year.


The portal sucks for coaches trying to project their rosters 6 months out and having to worry about starters leaving but for guys that weren't going to play it's actually a much better situation for all sides. A&M, Graham and the team he lands at are all going to be better off because of the portal.

Graham's different than the average portal dude right now.

A graduate player with only one year left, he's a tackle who wasn't going to beat out Zuhn. So with one year left to provide tape for the NFL, he is going somewhere where he can play this season.

So you think the portal hasn't helped any players or their career?

I'm already so numb to all of this. Because the portal is so out of control, I don't even know half of our players names anymore. I hear about an A&M related portal player and I have no idea if it means somebody is coming or if somebody is leaving!?!

I'm guessing a lot of those guys weren't playing where they were and are finding out they aren't good enough to play anywhere else...so likely not damaging some future professional career and can focus on school now. The big screw up is if they were on scholarship, now they're paying their own way.

According to the athletic there are ~2,100 players in the portal and ~83% find a new team so per that article at least you have completely made up a crisis.

We return roughly 15 starters from last year and lot of second string guys too. The churning of the roster is not much different than pre-portal when third string juniors grad transferred or left to play down a level. The hyperbole around the roster and portal is strong with some of yall. Adding portal guys in I guess takes some mental focus, its not any different than learning about incoming freshmen or incoming grad transfers.

You can't merely replace a player like Derrick. The months he spent in the cafeteria, the weight room, the OL meeting room, the times he spent blocking the sleds, ...you just can't replace that production. In his short time in Aggieland, Derrick endeared himself to the players, coaches, and staff. The fans wonder what may have been, ...if only. Anyhoo, Derrick will be missed by Aggie fans across the country as he seeks greener pastures in the nether regions of the portal. Good luck young man!

Like the pro game this one is about to be very little fun. I think a great coach once said sports don't build character they reveal it. Well Woody we are here old boy. Revealed and not pretty from players, coaches, or schools. Money ruined another great American past time. Got my Sunday's back many years ago. Here come my Saturday's. You guys keep watching if you like I only care about 1 college team and that flame is about to flicker out soon if this is our future.

Not too far over it though, right? I read we were at 89 about a week ago when some of these guys just weren't officially portal but had said they would be, so unsure if they had already been counted or not.

I didn't see it said, so I'll say it... I'd take Cottrell back if he was interested. If we are really looking for more WR depth, why not? Add him and Javarrius Johnson and call it a day.

Seems like we are going to have to run out Walker and Thomas at this point and hope we can get come good yards from Allen and Tease too. With Moose, Bussey, and Campbell added in on the inside. There is enough talent in my opinion. Having Green will really help.

This Portal JUMPING is probably a Good Deal for the Top 25% or so. Really Iffy if you leave a Top Program and Go TO a Top Program. But if you go to a Top 50-Top 100 program might be OK, but doubt the $$$ is there.

I'm not sure one of those exists in the portal right now. I haven't seen anything linking us to anyone but the JaVarrius Johnson visit this weekend.

Elijhah Badger is out there. Any thoughts on him?
