Tell me why we r opposed to it?

Better question. Why play it that day??
Things are a lot different than 30 years ago when it made sense.

As already pointed out.
We were the only game on 30 years ago. The NFL plays a very big match up now. That's a gigantic difference. Thursday night used to be focused on a great college game. NFL has taken over Thursday night now.
Two, bonfire not being on campus.
Enjoy the holiday with your family. Let the players enjoy it as well.
These are all very obvious reasons that everyone should easily understand and don't really need to be pointed out.
So all you said was tradition. Any reasons real reasons other than that one that make sense to play the game on Thursday night?

My gut is that most people in this board never attended a Thanksgiving Day game and don't realize how fun those games were. Especially the 1975 game. Lol

Its time for the family to be back together. I look forward to watching A&M compete with UT on Thanksgiving night once again.
Does anyone remember the Leeland McCelroy game of Thanksgiving 1993?????
There was nothing like beating the Sips on Thanksgiving night.
The next day the local Wallmart would be sold out of all its A&M gear. This was back when A&M reigned supreme in the state of Texas, and the Southwest Conference.
Its time to bring that electricity back to this rivalry game. A&M-UT needs to rotate between the campuses and be played at 8PM on Thanksgiving Night in front of a National Television audience.
The late start can ensure that the fans that can attend are nice and liquored up........... which can only make the atmosphere as SEC as possible. The 8pm starts also lets folks from Dallas get home after the Cowboy game in time to catch the 1st quarter.
I'm looking forward to that first A&M vs UT game. Don't think folks in BCS haven't forgotten about the gaudy, over the top celebrations that occurred after that lucky kick in 2011.
Folks have a long memory in these neck of the woods, and you might be surprised at the amount of folks itching for some revenge and vengeance against the Horns.
One of these days the Texas Longhorns are going to have to come back to College Station, and we will see how tough they are.
Just painting the modern day picture. I don't give a rip about the NFL, and have not for many years now.alamogeorge said:Cinco Ranch Aggie said:

I kind of like the tradition of playing on thanksgiving. Not arguing but what has changed in last 30 years? I still hate those mfers.
ESPN canceled our Thursday game with them for years because it wasn't a money maker. Now it would contend with Egg Bowl and NFL games. Plus it wasn't played on T'giving every year anyway.boozer93 said:

Pretty sure the 97 game was on Friday.Zombie Jon Snow said:
Some MANDELA EFFECT here....
The fact is we didn't even play the game on Thanksgiving all of the time - 9 of the last 33 games were not on T-giving. And 50 times in the series history it was not on t-giving.
Bold are not on t-giving
