While thats a play for some of these guys, I don't think it's the default reason. Seems legit that he signed up to play for Saban, which is probably the motivator for many of their portal jumpers. Would be a really bad look to jump to the portal after being on campus only a few weeks just to get more money.

My guess is he went in the portal bc the coach he committed to retired and is checking out his options to be sure. Totally football related.

Agreed, think this one is pretty obvious. Not sure its so much DeBoer not seeing the same potential in Sayin (seems pretty universal in his high potential expectations), but interesting to see if its the reverse and players aren't buying into DeBoer. His record to date indicates that they should, but maybe there is more info in the football circles regarding concerns about DeBoer. Who knows. Curious if Bama is surprised by the number of jumps. Obviously it is expected to happen, but wonder what the over/under expectations were by Bama.

Which is puzzling.

Baton Rouge is the hood in a trash state.

Some parts of BR yes, just like any "large" city.

It's a unique state with unique people. No other real comparisons in the country, good or bad. The native pride there is a strong as can be.

He did not want to compete with the Washington QB who committed to Alabama.

I don't thinbk it's about players not buyiong into Deboer as much as they just wanted to play for Saban and now that he is gone they realize they are stuck in Alabama without Saban there instead being somehwere they'd really rather be.

the allure of playing for Saban was greater than some of the other things they gave up to go play for him, so now that he's gone they realize they can go somewhere else now where they might be happier.

Mass exodus at BAMA. 29 in portal with the above making it 30, as of today. Saban gone! Down goes BAMA. Down goes BAMA. Will they even have any players left to field a team.
