What do you mean by captain of the 1964 Ags? John was 49 years old. He was a good guy and he will be missed.

Did he play for the ags? Eat there with coworkers quite a bit, there is a gofundme out there if anyone wants to contribute

If I'm not mistaken, John Brotherton intercepted a tu pass in the closing minutes of the 1963 game at Kyle with Ags leading by less than a touchdown. Brotherton then tried to lateral to another Aggie and the ball fell on the ground. TU's Tommy Stockton (from Bryan) recovered the fumble and Texas went on to score on a controversial call on a pass in the end zone. Texas wins. John was a real good Aggie and player.

You guys are talking about a different John Brotherton that passed in November. I believe BBQ John was simply an Aggie fan that I"ve heard nothing but really good things about. The entire BBQ community has rallied behind his restaurant and family. Pretty cool.

Here. I love that place and go there all the time. Its about 5 minutes from my house. 49 years is way too young.

There was a John Brotherton on the Aggie Roster in 1964. He was a wide receiver and somehow involved with the 63 interception of the ut game . We fumbled the lateral after the interception but I may be wrong but I know he was on the team. Memmory fades after time.

The only thing Brotherton had to do was to fall down. Game Over! A&M would have upset the National Champions!

At 49, he couldn't have played in 64.
