Are you kidding me? Injuries stink but I think it might be time to move on.

Why? Unless he is worried about his long term health why not sign up for more freebies courtesy of Miami. I'm going out on a limb and guess being a student athlete at Miami a short distance from south beach has its perks.

That's DOCTOR McCormick, thank you very much.

Crazy. I read a story about a dude who got an 8th year last year.

Why? Who is it hurting? He's obviously not good/healthy enough to go pro, so it's not like he's some unfair advantage. This isn't like having a 21 year old playing HS ball.

Yet Tua's brother was denied 6 year becuase he played in 5 games his freshmen year including one where he took 2 kneel down snaps at the end of the game where Tua was injured.

It hurts younger players. All the Covid BS is taking opportunities from the next gen.

And being 25+ is a big advantage.

So it is OK for 25-30 year-olds to take roster spots for kids who are actually college aged, 18-21?

Screw the guys that get beat out by old guys you say? No playing time or $ for you.

Yes it is OK for a 25 year old to compete with an 18-21 year old. If 18-21 year olds can't manage then they are in for a surprise the rest of their lives when they will be competing with both younger and older people. I think they will be fine.

Well the 25 year-old is going to be in for a surprise when he has to FINALLY leave college and get a job in the real world.

Playing college football for 9 years isn't all that great on a resume.

I'm sure employers will really shy away from a kid with a graduate degree because he played a few extra years of college football. Do you remember that 27 yr old QB who started for (checks notes) Texas A&M?

Can't it just be an interesting story?

Miami wants to give him a scholarship (they don't have to, you know) and he wants to play. Doesn't seem to have any impact on us.

Well he has an undergraduate and a graduate degree from Oregon plus whatever he manages at Miami. I'm sure he will be better prepared for the workforce than most.

Meanwhile Jimbo couldn't even get undrafted/future pre season cut NFL players to stay for a 4th year, holy smokes

Yep, he has a bachelor's degree in journalism with an emphasis in advertising and a master's degree in advertising and brand responsibility from Oregon.

You do realize that the graduate degree from Oregon is listed as a 1-year program.

So let me see if I have this straight, he had to have redshirted in 2016, played in 2017 (3 years of eligibility left), injured in 2018, 2019, 2020, & 2021, played in 2022, 2023, and will in 2024. That makes 9 years.

The interwebs say he was in the same recruiting class as Jalen Hurts and Nick Bosa. He should be getting ready to do his medical residency after 2024. I mean, if I was going to spend that much time in school, I'm damn sure coming out as an M.D.

That would be really dumb. He was injured in 2020 so he was already saving a year of eligibility. Why would he deserve a second year of eligibility because of COVID?

I'm just saying that nobody in the entire NCAA used a year of eligibility that year. He didn't get an extra on top of what everyone else got.

I don't hate this guy (don't know him). Just poking some fun here. But I do think it is silly to give him another year of football eligibility.

And I thought it was funny he has been in school close to a decade but even his grad degree is only a 1-year program. (But I realize he could have other things going on in his life.)

No, what they need to cut out is those who red shirt one, play two and go to pros.

Strange that almost every course is worth 4 credits. I only got that when lab was attached to a class. Still that's 12 courses and at 4 classes a semester + a full summer that schedule sounds grueling.
This man isn't doing donuts in a parking lot and is working on his second grad degree.
